Lai Chau: Bustling opening of cultural festival of ethnic groups with population under 10,000 people

The first festival was held with the participation of 11 provinces, including: Lai Chau, Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, Dien Bien, Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai , Tuyen Quang, Nghe An, Quang Binh and Kon Tum. With the participation of 14 ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people such as: O Du, Brau, Ro Mam, Pu Peo, Si La, Cong, Bo Y, Co Lao, Mang, Lo Lo, Chut, Lu, Pa Then and Ngai. Lai Chau alone has 4 ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people.

Tuyen Quang province participated in the festival with Pa Then ethnic people.

Actors, artisans, and extras have practiced for many days to get ready for the opening of the festival.

Mr. Thao La, a Brau ethnic from Ngoc Hoi district, Kon Tum province, shared: "I am very happy to be able to participate in this festival. It has been 3 days since I traveled here, but the atmosphere is very joyful. We have practiced at home to perform cultural performances for everyone to see."

Ms. Y San, also from Ngoc Hoi district, Kon Tum province, said: "When we were at home, we practiced gongs and other things for about 10 days. Coming here is so much fun, meeting people from different ethnic groups, and visiting Lai Chau is so much fun!"

The Organizing Committee of the Cultural Festival of Ethnic Groups with a population of less than 10,000 people, which is being held for the first time, wishes: "Through the activities of the festival, create a particularly meaningful cultural space, so that cultural subjects, artisans, actors, and athletes of ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people have the opportunity and conditions to meet, exchange, and share valuable experiences in preserving, maintaining, and promoting traditional cultural values, making an important contribution to the building of Vietnamese culture and people, creating motivation to realize the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country in accordance with the policies and guidelines of the Party and the State".

Attending the festival from the farthest were the Brau ethnic people living in Kon Tum province.

A large number of tourists and locals came to Tuyen Quang Province People's Square to attend the opening ceremony of the festival.
