On September 27, Mr. Pham Ngoc Toan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Chu Prong Commune, Gia Lai Province, said that he had directed professional staff to work with schools to clarify and prevent illegal collection of fees related to parents' complaints regarding the list of tuition fees collected at the beginning of the year at Phan Chu Trinh Primary School (Chu Prong Commune).
According to parents' feedback, this school year, Phan Chu Trinh Primary School has collected many fees outside of regulations, higher than the average for each student/school year. Specifically, such as English tuition of 360,000 VND, teaching and learning support fund of 100,000 VND, cleaning public restrooms, school yard of 180,000 VND, writing practice notebooks of 60,000 VND. In particular, boarding students also have to pay many fees that have been divided into small amounts such as input fees, cleaning materials, security, meals, etc.

"At the parent-teacher conference, I was shocked to see that the total amount of money I had to pay for a year was nearly 5 million VND. My family works hard as farmers, this is a huge amount of money," one parent shared.
Regarding the incident, Ms. Phan Thi Nga - Principal of Phan Chu Trinh Primary School said: For the 2025-2026 school year, the school held an early parent meeting to get opinions and prepare well for boarding students. According to Ms. Nga, the above amounts are only estimates, and the school will then consider to complete the collection in a reasonable and correct manner.
