Mùa thu Ban Mê - Nỗi nhớ dịu dàng

Autumn in Ban Me - Gentle nostalgia

Autumn in the red basalt plateau of Ban Me (the familiar name of Dak Lak province by locals and tourists) is pleasant, somewhat chilly due to unpredictable rains.

The weather in August and September is like a pampered girl: capricious yet charming. There are no distinct seasons here: spring, summer, autumn, and winter, but only rainy and dry seasons.

It is the middle of the rainy season, a cool season, with mist lingering over the coffee, rubber, pepper, and durian plantations... Every morning, clouds creep over the treetops and roofs like kitchen smoke, chilly. Streaks of yellow sunlight sometimes filter through the thick canopy of leaves onto the road.

The gentle cold of the highlands, as if sneaking and gently touching the human body. In the capital of coffee and durian, autumn comes with golden sunlight spreading gently across the streets, passing through the green tree-lined roads, with the highland breeze gently blowing through the flaps of the shirt. Early morning and late afternoon, going out requires a thin coat to both prevent the chill and be fashionable . Anyone who has ever been to the mountain town in autumn can easily get lost in that peaceful and vibrant atmosphere.

The tree-lined streets are peaceful and full of life.

Buon Ma Thuot Ward, the capital of Dak Lak province, is known as the "city of tree-lined streets". Trees are everywhere, spread evenly on both sides of the road, their branches intertwined, creating a cool breeze. When autumn comes, on Phan Chu Trinh, Nguyen Tat Thanh, Le Duan, Le Thanh Tong, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Phan Boi Chau, Phan Dinh Giot, Tran Nhat Duat, A Ma Khe streets... or the streets leading to villages, visitors will encounter rows of oil trees, black star trees, banyan trees, kơ nia trees... growing tall, their foliage intersecting to form a dark green dome. Sunlight shines through each leaf, sprinkling people's shoulders like sparkling gold particles. Many young people invite each other to check-in and take photos on those streets, especially Phan Dinh Giot street in front of Dak Lak Museum. Each white ao dai, each light skirt, standing under the canopy of trees, letting the autumn wind blow their hair, letting the light make the photo clearer. The shy young girls standing next to the old kơ nia trees, the couples holding hands while walking, or the tourists who accidentally stop by, all leave their own mark in the autumn picture of Ban Me.

Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Ha, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, shared: “I have been to many places, but I was really surprised that autumn in Buon Ma Thuot brings a very different feeling. The fresh air, the cool green roads, plus the faint aroma of coffee, make me feel strangely relaxed.”

Indeed, in that space, people can easily find a simple yet memorable resting place. Garden cafes nestled under the shade of trees, street corners filled with bougainvillea, or windless porches, all contribute to creating the unique “autumn scent” of the highland city.

Not only tourists, but also the people of the mountain town take the opportunity to record their own autumn. It is easy to see images of young girls in flowing white ao dai or unique patterned costumes of the Ede, M'Nong, Tay, Nung... posing under rows of deciduous oil trees along the road. Young mothers take their children for a walk in the late afternoon, taking a few photos and telling them stories about the rainy and sunny seasons of the Central Highlands.

Dak Lak autumn is beautiful in the memories of everyone who has passed through this place.

Coming to Buon Ma Thuot this season, you will find yourself wanting to slow down, wanting to stop more to breathe in the scent of the sky, wanting to save a few photos as memories. Leaving the mountain town, everyone brings with them memories: memories of the shady roads, rows of ancient trees, memories of the passionate, peaceful autumn of Ban Me. For many people, autumn in Buon Ma Thuot also evokes memories. Those are memories of the smell of red soil after the late summer rain, of afternoons sitting by a cup of coffee listening to the sound of the wind blowing through the canopy of leaves. Autumn, therefore, is not only beautiful in the scenery, but also beautiful in the gentle memories of each person who has passed through this place.
