Established about 30 years ago, this artificial bird garden is not only a place for many species of birds to live, rest and breed, but also a highlight of Ca Mau city for tourists because of its uniqueness, especially at the beginning of the new year when many people come to the garden to take pictures with the birds.
At peak times, every day the bird garden has about 7,000 storks, about 3,600 storks and many rare species listed in the Vietnam Red Book returning to take refuge and breed.
The garden is a habitat and breeding ground for many species of birds.
To preserve and develop the bird garden, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ca Mau province has developed a project to preserve and develop the bird garden, proposing to maintain and expand the bird garden to about 6 hectares, to expand the living space for the birds, create a buffer zone, and help limit negative impacts such as noise, smoke, dust, electromagnetic waves, etc.
Sick and weak birds and storks will be cared for separately by garden staff.
Phan Thi Gia Bao, a student at Ca Mau Community College, said she was very happy because she did not need to go far to check in at the bird garden right in Ca Mau city. Ca Mau province has also proposed many solutions to improve and handle environmental pollution of soil, water, and air to ensure that the indicators are within the allowable limits and control diseases for the birds.
The conservation of bird gardens in the heart of the city is associated with creating a lively landscape, close to nature, serving the purpose of studying, researching, and visiting. Thereby meeting the spiritual needs of the people, raising awareness of environmental protection, and wildlife protection in the community.
