On the afternoon of February 21, at the National Assembly House, Politburo member and Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man chaired a meeting to listen to a report on the Project "Research and synchronization of ethnic policies in the system of policies and laws according to the Party's resolutions and the 2013 Constitution" (Project).
The National Assembly Party Delegation issued Decision No. 2362, assigning the Standing Committee of the Nationalities Council the task of developing the Project. This meeting aims to discuss and continue to complete the draft Project before asking for the opinion of the National Assembly Party Delegation.
At the meeting, Chairman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council Y Thanh Ha Nie K'dam reported briefly on the process and results of implementing the Project. Delegates also discussed and clarified the limitations, overlaps, and inadequacies related to ethnic policies in the legal system; and difficulties in systematizing policies.
Acknowledging and appreciating the efforts and hard work of the drafting department, the Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly pointed out that the Standing Committee of the Nationalities Council had collected documents and data, organized workshops and discussions, and sought opinions many times from the Party Group of the Nationalities Council on the draft Project. The carefully prepared and detailed documents included the draft Project and 16 appendices, synthesizing and citing the contents by field and year of issuance.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly requested that the drafting unit and the Standing Committee of the Ethnic Council clarify the contradictions, overlaps, inadequacies and causes of the contradictions, overlaps and inadequacies related to ethnic policies in the current system of policies and laws.
On that basis, propose solutions to overcome, amend and supplement the provisions of legal documents; review to detect any missing or inappropriate content, and determine solutions for synchronous implementation.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly also suggested that the Standing Committee of the Ethnic Council carefully discuss the scope, structure, and content of the Project, ensuring that it has focus, key points, and clear solutions.
