In a Facebook post after his meeting with Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, Prime Minister Anwar said the meeting affirmed the two countries' commitment to enhancing cooperation in the areas of trade, investment, energy and the Halal sector.

According to Prime Minister Anwar, at the meeting, both sides agreed on the importance of the relationship between the two countries’ parliaments. Malaysia acknowledged Vietnam’s role through the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) since 1995, which marked an important milestone for parliamentary integration in the region.

Through the exchange of best practices in legislation, governance and reform, “we have succeeded in strengthening our democratic foundations and expanding our vision for cooperation,” he said.

Prime Minister Anwar also stressed that the leaders' support for Timor Leste to join the ASEAN family symbolizes the unity and solidarity of the region.
