More iPhone buyers choose installment payments than Android phones

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên03/11/2023

The differences between iPhone users and Android users have been widely noted in the community. Recently, a survey by the market research firm Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) revealed another aspect that has long been overlooked.

Accordingly, iPhone users tend to choose installment payment when buying products more than those who look for Android smartphones. CIRP report shows that 55% of iPhone buyers choose installment payment program, while this rate in Android customers is 44%. Correspondingly, only 38% and 49% of buyers pay in advance when buying a phone; the remaining 7% choose other forms of purchase.

iPhones cost more than the average price of Android smartphones

This difference comes from different reasons, partly because iPhone prices are often higher than average, partly related to the trade-in promotion program, installment payment policy provided by Apple and network operators, dealers...

For example, in the US, carriers often offer 0% interest installment programs with a commitment to use the telecommunications services they provide. In Vietnam, AAR (Apple Authorized Reseller) does the same. Thanks to that, users do not need to pay the full amount, or even just a part if they choose to pay 0 VND in advance. Flexible payment options that divide the amount into monthly payments help users be more proactive financially.

In terms of price, in the market, iPhone phones are generally much more expensive than Android smartphones and there are also many models using Google's operating system with prices suitable for ordinary spending. Therefore, it is not difficult to understand why the rate of people paying the full price of Android phones is always higher. Expensive Android models also record a certain rate of people choosing to pay in installments.
