Contractor "forgot" hundreds of tons of "trash" of rock and concrete under Cua Nhuong bridge

At the foot of Cua Nhuong Bridge (Cam Xuyen, Ha Tinh ), there are hundreds of tons of rocks and concrete blocking the flow of water, affecting boats and ships coming to anchor. This situation has lasted for nearly 10 years.

Contractor

Cua Nhuong Bridge (Cam Xuyen) started construction in 2010 and was completed in 2014 by the Ha Tinh Department of Transport as the investor. The bridge is located on the coastal route Xuan Hoi - Thach Khe - Vung Ang, spanning the largest estuary of Ha Tinh with a length of 1,368 m connecting the two communes of Cam Nhuong - Cam Linh (Cam Xuyen).

Contractor

Up to now, the area below the foot of Cua Nhuong Bridge has not been cleared by the construction units. Hundreds of tons of rocks and cement blocks after construction were "forgotten" by the contractors (Cau 12 Joint Stock Company, Thuan An Construction and Trading Development Joint Stock Company, COTABIG Joint Stock Company) causing obstruction to the flow as well as the movement of ships and boats.

At low tide, the water is shallow and large concrete blocks piled up in the middle spans of Cua Nhuong bridge are clearly visible.

Contractor

Over time, these concrete blocks have been covered with white seashells.

Contractor

In the middle of the creek under Cua Nhuong bridge there is a large concrete block like a small island.

Contractor

Mr. Pham Van Tuu - Head of Village 2, Cam Linh Commune (Cam Xuyen) said: "When the water level is low, the concrete blocks protrude like small islands. When the water level rises, the concrete sinks below and becomes very dangerous reefs for passing ships and boats. In the past, when the bridge was newly completed, many fishermen's boats were punctured."

Contractor

According to local people, the mass of rocks and concrete under the foot of the bridge was previously used by the construction unit to prevent water during the construction of the bridge girder.

Contractor

In addition, some large concrete blocks, mortar, gravel... that were not used after construction were also dumped into the sea. " After the construction is completed, the site must be restored, but the contractor dumped rocks and concrete into the sea. This mass of rocks and concrete invisibly creates a dam blocking the flow, limiting the flow of plankton from the sea into the creek. We think this is also one of the reasons why the habitat of aquatic species farmed in the alluvial plains such as clams, shrimp, snails... has been dying en masse in recent times " - said fisherman Nguyen Dinh Hoat in Tan Trung Thuy village, Cam Loc commune.

Contractor

Cua Nhuong has thousands of fishing boats of the communes: Cam Linh, Cam Nhuong, Cam Loc, Nam Phuc Thang, Cam Trung and Thien Cam town anchored. Recently, at the meetings with voters and People's Council delegates at all levels, people have reported that since the completion of construction, the foot of Cua Nhuong bridge has not been cleaned and the ground level has not been returned; the channel under the foot of the bridge has not been dredged, causing difficulties for boats to anchor and limiting the flow of alluvium. Currently, we are synthesizing recommendations to submit to the competent authorities and the project investor, the Department of Transport, for a solution.
