Many new admission combinations appear in the 2025 admission season

In the 2025 enrollment period, many universities plan to change their enrollment policies to align with the new general education program.

In 2025, the first batch of candidates studying under the new general education program will take the high school graduation exam. According to regulations, candidates will take two compulsory subjects: Math and Literature and two elective subjects out of nine subjects, including: Foreign Language, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, and Technology.

With the above number of subjects and selection methods, there will be 36 combinations that can be used for university admission. To adapt to the innovation in the number of subjects and exam formats, many universities have adjusted the admission combinations.

University of Economics and Law (Ho Chi Minh City National University) plans to use 4 subject combinations for admission applicable to all majors/specializations, all admission methods, including: Math - English - Literature; Math - English - Physics; Math - English - Information Technology; Math - English - Economic and Legal Education .

Compared to previous years, in 2025 the school plans to remove the two combinations of Math - Physics - Chemistry and Math - English - Chemistry, replacing them with new combinations of Math - English - Informatics and Math - English - Economic and Legal Education.

According to the school representative, this adjustment is based on the results of studying admission data over many years, as well as the actual implementation of the 2018 program in high schools. The school's admissions board noticed that the trend of candidates registering for the Math - Physics - Chemistry and Math - English - Chemistry combinations is decreasing.

On the other hand, Mathematics, English, Economic and Legal Education are subjects that are suitable for the training program in the field of law and economics of the school.

Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade announced to recruit 5 new groups in 2025, including 4 groups of block C, including: C00 (Literature, History, Geography), C01 (Literature, Math, Physics), C02 (Literature, Math, Chemistry), C14 (Math, Literature, Economic and Legal Education), mainly in the groups of Law, Business Administration, and Hotel. This is the first time Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade recruits block C.

Mr. Pham Thai Son, Director of the Admissions and Communications Center, said that choosing a variety of admission subject combinations will help candidates be more flexible in the process of registering for the school, creating conditions for candidates with a foundation in block C to access many majors and careers at the school. At the same time, it helps the school select students with the capacity and foundation suitable for each major.

In addition, the school also added another combination of three subjects: Math, Information Technology and English. This is also the first combination to appear, because the new general education program has Information Technology as a subject. The school uses this combination to consider admission to the majors of Information Technology, Information Security and Data Science .

Recently, Hanoi University of Industry announced that in the 2025 enrollment season, the school plans to add a number of new combinations suitable for the 2018 general education program, including: A0C (Math, Physics, Technology), A0T (Math, Physics, Information Technology), B0C (Math, Chemistry, Technology), D0C (Math, English, Technology), D0G (Math, English, Economic and Legal Education).

Also from 2025, candidates considering high school transcripts to enter Hanoi University of Industry must combine test scores to assess capacity or thinking, international certificates, and excellent student awards, instead of using independent high school transcript scores like previous years.
