2025 is the time when the first batch of students under the new general education program will take the high school graduation exam. The exam is scheduled to take place on June 26-27. Compared to previous years, the 2025 high school graduation exam will have one less exam session and two fewer subjects.

Candidates will take 4 subjects, including 2 compulsory subjects (Literature, Mathematics) and 2 optional subjects (among the remaining subjects studied in grade 12 including: Foreign Language, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, Technology).

According to the draft 2025 admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, the combination used for admission must include at least 3 subjects, including Math or Literature. A major or program can use many combinations but must have a common subject, accounting for at least 50% of the total score. Schools must convert the benchmark scores according to the methods and combinations to a common scale before using them for admission.
