Ninh Binh possesses an extremely rich ecosystem, mangrove forests, steep limestone cliffs, winding rivers have created a beautiful natural picture, attracting many rare birds to come here to live.
Ninh Binh Newspaper would like to introduce some bird species recorded in the wild in Ninh Binh by Mr. Bui Duc Tien, a bird researcher and also a photographer specializing in taking photos of wild nature. Mr. Tien spent 10 years working at Cuc Phuong National Park, has a good understanding of nature and has followed and taken thousands of photos of Vietnamese birds. He also has many photos participating in the photo book called Vietnamese Birds, edited by Dr. Le Manh Hung, published in 2020, introducing 731 bird species belonging to 22 orders and 93 families recorded in Vietnam through 1,205 photos.
1. The Striped-bellied Pit-Tail has a very interesting appearance with a stubby tail that looks like someone has plucked it off. Stilt-tailed bird with long black beak, white head and belly, black wings, and outstanding super long red-pink legs (Photo taken at Truong Yen, Hoa Lu) 3. The Red Sunbird is a small bird belonging to the Sunbird family - its body length is only about 11 cm. It mainly lives on nectar, although sometimes insects are also part of its diet. Grey plover , a coastal bird migrating through Ninh Binh (photo taken in Hoa Lu) 6. The Golden Pegasus is a rare water bird with grey feathers, yellow beak and legs. It usually lives in northern China and migrates south every winter. (Photo taken in Hoa Lu) 7. The Rufous Broadbill belongs to the Broadbill family. Their habitat is the canopy of humid forests, so despite their bright colors, they are still difficult to observe. The giant egret is about 83-103 cm long and weighs 0.7-1.2 kg, with a white body. The Barn Owl is a fairly common resident species throughout the country, known for its keen senses, sharp talons and ability to fly silently. 11.
