Widespread water loss due to power outage
Mr. Nguyen Van Ha - Deputy General Director of Nghe An Water Supply Joint Stock Company said that the water outage has occurred on a large scale since the afternoon of August 29. The reason is that the Company's three water supply plants, Hung Vinh Water Plant, Cau Bach Water Plant (formerly Nam Giang) and Hung Nguyen Water Plant, are all located in areas without power grid, unable to produce and pump water to supply to people.
The company has announced the water loss and weak problem on the company's Zalo page for customers to know.

A representative of Nghe An Water Supply Joint Stock Company also said: According to the design, the old Vinh City area and surrounding areas have a total capacity of 94,000m3 /day and night and must operate all 3 factories simultaneously to ensure system safety.

After the storm, the Water Supply Joint Stock Company established 3 working groups, mobilizing all staff to check and inspect the condition of pipelines and pumping stations; organizing cleaning and clearing of vulnerable areas; ensuring that as soon as the power is restored, the factory will operate for production and supply. The Company hopes that Nghe An Electricity will prioritize the power line system supplying water plants for repair to restore power as soon as possible to facilitate the operation of water plants for customers. With the current capacity, if the power is restored after about 2 hours, water will be pumped back to supply to customers.
Efforts to restore water supply soon
On the morning of September 29, right after the storm had passed, the Water Supply Joint Stock Company coordinated with Nghe An Electricity to fix the problem and by 7:00 p.m. on September 29, the power supply had been restored to Hung Vinh Water Plant, so the plant was running to supply water. However, because only 1/3 of the plant was operating, the capacity was not enough and the system often experienced pressure drops and production, and the water supply was still unstable.

Sharing with us, before the rainy season caused frequent power outages, the Company recommended that families and customers should have water storage tanks to ensure 2-3 days of use in case of water loss or weak water; should not use directly from the Company's pumping system as is currently the case. In fact, customers and areas affected by water loss were the first to use water directly from the Company's pumping system on the pipeline.

According to information from Nghe An Electricity, the Company is currently trying to repair and restore power to the people as soon as possible. Regarding the power system supplying Hung Nguyen Water Plant and Cau Bach Water Plant related to the 35KV line and transformer station incident caused by storm No. 10, the units are in the process of repairing and have not yet determined the time to restore power.
Nghe An Water Supply Joint Stock Company is managing and operating 10 complete centralized water supply systems, with a designed capacity of 114,000 m 3 /day and night, of which the Vinh water supply system and surrounding areas have a capacity of 94,000 m 3 /day and night, of which Hung Vinh Water Plant has a capacity of 40,000 m 3 /day and night (operational capacity of 20,000 m 3 /day and night); Cau Bach Water Plant has a capacity of 20,000 m 3 /day and night; Hung Nguyen Water Plant has a capacity of 34,000 m 3 /day and night. Currently, the Company has signed water supply service contracts for 140,000 customers.
