CTBT patients treated at Thanh Vu Medic Bac Lieu General Hospital
The patient is Ms. CTBT (36 years old, living in Ward 1, Nga Nam Town, Soc Trang ), admitted to the hospital on February 15. According to Ms. T., she has had a hoarse voice since she was a child, and thought it was normal so she did not seek treatment. During her work, she was often exposed to an environment with chemicals, so she suffered from chronic pharyngitis. She received treatment and took medicine for many years but it did not improve.
For about 4 months now, Ms. T. has been experiencing increased hoarseness and difficulty speaking, which has affected her daily activities. Therefore, she decided to go to the hospital for treatment.
Doctor Nguyen Hong Tru, Head of the ENT clinic, Thanh Vu Medic Bac Lieu General Hospital, said that through examination, the results of the imaging diagnosis showed that the patient had chronic laryngitis and polyps on the left vocal cord.
After consultation, the doctor prescribed microsurgery, cutting the polyp of the vocal cords through endoscopy, removing a polyp measuring 0.5 x 0.5 cm. The surgery took place within 20 minutes. Currently, the patient's health is completely stable, the voice is clear, and the recovery is over 90%.
Dr. Tru recommends that vocal cord polyps can occur at any age, but are more common in adults. The cause is voice abuse, for occupational reasons or chronic laryngitis. If not treated thoroughly, the disease will affect the quality of life. When patients detect abnormal symptoms such as: Hoarseness, loss of voice, shortness of breath, sore throat, prolonged sore throat, coughing up blood, etc., they should immediately go to a reputable medical facility for timely examination and treatment.
