The 54th UPU International Letter Writing Competition was organized by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) with the theme: "Imagine you are the ocean. Write a letter to someone explaining why and how they should take good care of you and protect you."
Minh Khue’s letter, titled “The Ocean’s Plea,” was written in the form of a letter addressed to the famous director James Cameron. In the letter, Khue transformed into the ocean to tell a story about the pain of human indifference and destruction of nature, and at the same time earnestly begged James Cameron to make a film powerful enough to awaken the world.

In the letter, Minh Khue transformed into the ocean and outlined a special movie script. The ocean's "wounds" were sent in silence, but humanity remained indifferent. Then from the Mariana Trench, a mysterious signal rang out, its sound as sad as the cry of the ocean. When decoded, the signal left a chilling warning: "I am dying. If you do not act, humanity will end."
The world was skeptical, but James Cameron, who had dived to the Titanic wreck 30 times, explored the Mariana Trench and hydrothermal vents, sensed an ominous omen. He decided to join scientists on an expedition into the heart of the ocean to find the answer to that request. The film ended with an open, haunting ending: the image of a boy standing silently on a trash-strewn beach, as a reminder of human responsibility for the future of the earth.

Previously, Minh Khe's letter had surpassed more than 1.5 million domestic entries, helping Minh Khue win the national first prize and become Vietnam's representative to participate in the international round. The 54th UPU International Letter Writing Competition attracted more than 1.6 million letters from students in 65 countries and territories.
This year’s international first prize went to a female student from Türkiye. This is the 19th time a Vietnamese student has won an international prize in 37 years of participation.
"Minh Khue's achievements are the pride of the teachers and students of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted and at the same time contribute a special mark to Vietnamese education in the international arena," said a representative of the Board of Directors of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted.
