A Hamas delegation arrived in Cairo on March 3 to negotiate a ceasefire in Gaza, led by Khalil Al-Hayya, deputy head of Hamas in Gaza, a senior Hamas official said.

Meanwhile, the same day, the Israeli army issued a statement saying it was stepping up operations in the city of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, destroying dozens of Hamas targets.
According to the statement, Israeli air force and artillery attacked about 50 targets within six minutes, in an effort to "increase the success of operations in the area".
On the same day, a senior Hamas official revealed that a ceasefire in Gaza could be achieved “within 24 to 48 hours” if Israel accepts the movement’s demands in ongoing negotiations.
“If Israel agrees to Hamas’ demands, which include returning displaced Palestinians to northern Gaza and increasing humanitarian aid, that would pave the way for a deal within the next 24 to 48 hours,” the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Ceasefire talks between Hamas and Israel have resumed in Cairo, Egypt.
