Developing forestry in a modern direction

The Prime Minister approved the establishment of the North Central region high-tech forestry zone in Nghe An province in Nghi Loc and Do Luong districts.

This is the first high-tech forestry zone in the country with the expectation of being a pioneer in developing forestry in a modern direction, producing high-quality wood and non-wood forest products according to the value chain.

According to the Prime Minister 's decision, the high-tech forestry zone will have 3 main functional zones with a total area of 618 hectares. Of which, zone 1 is a high-tech forestry seedling production center, with an area of 48.57 hectares. Zone 2 is a high-tech wood and non-timber forest product processing zone, with an area of 530 hectares. Zone 3 is a trading floor combined with an exhibition to introduce raw wood and processed products from wood and non-timber forest products, with an area of 35 hectares.

In nature, the high-tech forestry zone in the North Central region will be a place to focus on implementing activities to apply high-tech research and development achievements in the forestry sector, focusing on the fields of forestry seed production, afforestation, wood processing and forest products in Nghe An province and the North Central region.

Synchronously planning the technical infrastructure system in an environmentally friendly direction; harmoniously combining the development of high-tech forestry and biotechnology, forming a modern service and tourism area with its own identity; building a high-tech forestry area in the North Central region with a synchronous technical infrastructure system, exploiting and promoting all potentials and advantages of the region; creating a basis to attract, call for, and select investors... contributing significantly to Vietnam's goal of "committing to achieving net zero emissions by 2050" at the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Summit (COP26).

In the long-term vision, the People's Committee of Nghe An province aims to plan the high-tech forestry zone in the North Central region to become one of the three high-tech forestry zones in the country with projects on research and application of high technology in a closed chain from breeding to processing, promoting and consuming wood products and non-timber forest products.

There are still many issues that need to be clarified.
