Recently, at the Vietnam - US Aviation Cooperation Seminar held in Hanoi , Mr. Le Duc Tien, Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, gave remarkable assessments of Quang Tri Airport - a project invested and implemented by T&T.

Accordingly, the leaders of Quang Tri province affirmed: This is an important project, identified in the Master Plan for the development of the national airport and seaport system for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 in Decision No. 648/QD-TTg dated June 7, 2023 of the Prime Minister.

The project is implemented under the public-private partnership (PPP) method approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 2148/QD-TTg dated December 20, 2021 with the scale of a level 4C civil airport and a level II military airport. The port has a capacity of 1 million passengers/year and 3,100 tons of cargo/year; operates code C aircraft or equivalent; land use area of 316.57 hectares. The project has been appraised by the Interdisciplinary Appraisal Council; approved by the People's Committee of Quang Tri province in Decision No. 1879/QD-UBND dated August 21, 2023 and approved the results of investor selection in Decision No. 2879/QD-UBND dated November 29, 2023.

Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien affirmed: "Quang Tri Airport - four in one" is a breakthrough strategy in the future.

Construction started in July 2024 and the project is currently being urgently and synchronously deployed. According to schedule, phase 1 will be completed and put into operation by the end of 2026.

According to the leaders of Quang Tri province, with the strategic orientation of becoming the leading aviation group in Vietnam, in the region and in the world, T&T Group is also currently researching the Airport Urban Complex - Aviation Industry - Logistics Services - Trade in Quang Tri. The ecosystem includes airlines, industry, airports, services, maintenance, repair, flight services, as well as airport urban complexes and high-tech industries; forming an ecosystem of Aviation Industrial Complex - Airport Urban with a scale of about 10,800 hectares with connectivity, open space orientation, developing into a complex of regional and international scale.

At the same time, T&T Group also has a focus plan to expand into the air cargo sector and develop a regional air cargo center, participating in the development of aviation services, ground services, technical services and aviation industry with the core being Quang Tri Airport.

During the implementation of the Project, in order to ensure long-term exploitation, in line with the development orientation, the enterprise proposed and was approved by the competent authority to design and construct the runway structure to ensure the reception of code E aircraft. Quang Tri province supported and agreed to propose to the Ministry of Construction to report to the competent authority to adjust and upgrade the scale of Quang Tri Airport from level 4C to level 4E.

The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province assessed that in the context of deep integration and global competition, the airport is no longer just a place to pick up and see off passengers, but has become a center for comprehensive economic development, forming and developing an airport urban model with the center being Quang Tri Airport.

Referring to the advantages of Quang Tri Airport, Mr. Le Duc Tien emphasized the “four-in-one” airport model including urban, industrial, high-tech science and services linked in a comprehensive, modern and sustainable spatial structure. Quang Tri provincial leaders identified this as a breakthrough strategy, a correct, timely and long-term choice to concretize the province’s development aspirations in the new period.

Quang Tri clearly defines: the airport is not only a transport infrastructure, but must become the core of urban and high-tech industry. Moreover, the project will be developed according to the Airport Urban model, in which economic - social, industrial and service activities revolve around the airport; aiming to harmoniously combine economic development with environmental protection, preserving the culture and history of Quang Tri.

The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province highly appreciated the airport project that T&T Group is investing in the locality.

Based on the assessment of the potential, advantages as well as the development strategy and goals of the province, the leaders of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province have proposed a group of orientations for the development of the Quang Tri airport model - Four in One.

Firstly, building a modern airport city; the focus is on organizing urban space according to the airport urban model, in which the airport is the core, surrounded by commercial, service, research and ecological urban areas. Forming a modern, green - smart - sustainable urban space, harmoniously combining industrial development, services and people's lives. Applying smart urban technology: smart public transport system, infrastructure management using AI, Internet of Things (IoT) for energy - environment.

"This will be a new generation urban model, serving both international trade and improving the quality of life of Quang Tri people," Mr. Le Duc Tien hopes.

Second, based on Quang Tri's strategic advantages to develop export industries, supporting industries, and deep processing; Quang Tri Airport will play a role in directly connecting with the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone, industrial parks, and seaports in the province, forming a modern production - export - logistics chain, and forming an international freight transit center. This will be the foundation for Quang Tri to become an international production and freight transit center in the North Central region.

Perspective of Quang Tri Airport.

Regarding the field of science and technology, especially the semiconductor industry, Quang Tri currently owns a source of white silica sand - a strategic raw material for the production of semiconductor materials (wafers) for the electronic chip industry.

“With this advantage, we aim to develop high-tech industrial clusters, attracting international corporations in the fields of AI, IoT, electric vehicles, and smart medical equipment. In particular, the semiconductor industry will become the 'technology heart' of the airport city, contributing to making Quang Tri the semiconductor materials center of Vietnam in the future,” the leader of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee emphasized.

Regarding the development of international services and tourism, the airport needs to aim at forming an international trade, service and logistics center associated with the airport, creating high-value service products, serving the entire North Central region. At the same time, the airport will connect Quang Tri with major tourist centers, contributing to the development of tourism and services in the province and the region; thereby, making Quang Tri an attractive destination in the Hue - Quang Tri - Da Nang tourism triangle.
