Focus on overcoming the landslide incident on the left dike of Cau, Hop Thinh commune

BAC NINH - Implementing Decision No. 42/QD-UBND dated July 1, 2025 of the Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province on announcing an emergency situation to handle the incident of landslides on river banks and beaches in the area of ​​K8+100 - K8+500 of the left dike of Cau, Hop Thinh commune, on July 14, the People's Committee of Hop Thinh commune deployed a plan to handle the above incident.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hao, Vice Chairman of Hop Thinh Commune People's Committee informed that according to the direction plan of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue, the Commune People's Committee has built a dike on the field side at position K8+100 - K8+500, where there is the deepest landslide point on the river side, with a total length of 150 m.

The construction unit is implementing the embankment project on the field side.

The commune directed the construction unit to proactively overcome difficulties in weather, soil sources, and mobilize machinery to speed up the progress of the project to improve the capacity to prevent and combat natural disasters for the dike section with weak points. If the weather conditions are favorable, the embankment project on the field side will be completed this week.

Previously, from June 19 to 30, in the riverbank area, the left dike of Cau from K8+250 - K8+500, landslides continuously occurred, connecting with old landslides downstream. Of which, there were 2 particularly dangerous landslides that penetrated into the beach about 5m, the top of the landslide was 22m from the edge of the concrete dike on the river side, there was a section that penetrated 26m deep, 25m long, the top of the landslide was close to the edge of ancillary works and houses of some households.

It is known that from the night of June 30 to July 2, when the incident was discovered, the People's Committee of Hop Thinh commune directed specialized staff to monitor and mobilize militia, officials and civil servants to support people in moving people and property of 5/18 households at high risk to a safe place. At the same time, the force was directed to cut bamboo, clear the dike corridor to handle the landslide incident, and spread waterproof tarpaulins to ensure safety for people and property.
