The conference is an activity within the national program on energy saving and efficiency for the period 2019 - 2030 (VNEEP 3). The goal is to save at least 7-10% of total national energy consumption by 2030.

At the conference, reporters and editors from press agencies in the Central region were updated with new policy information and results of the implementation of VNEEP 3 in recent times, and discussed the role of the media in promoting electricity saving, especially during peak periods of hot weather and increased pressure on electricity supply.

According to a survey by VNEEP 3, the industrial sector accounts for more than 50% of the country's total energy consumption, leaving a large room for savings. For more than 3,000 key energy-using establishments alone, if they reduce their electricity consumption by 2% each year, they can save about 1.6 billion kWh, equivalent to more than 3,200 billion VND.

Through the program, the Ministry of Industry and Trade hopes that the press team will be an effective information bridge, spreading the spirit of using energy economically and efficiently to people and businesses, contributing to changing energy consumption behavior, reducing emissions and ensuring national energy security.
