Ready to operate
Currently, according to the train schedule, the earliest train departs from Hai Duong station (west of the city) at 7:20 and arrives in Hai Phong (east of the city) at 8:25, which cannot meet the working hours of officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers. In order for civil servants and public employees to arrive in the East to work on time, Director of the Ha Thai Hai Railway Operation Branch (under the Railway Transport Joint Stock Company) Nguyen Nhu Van said that from September 22, an earlier train will be opened departing from Hai Duong station. Up to now, the unit has prepared the conditions and is ready to operate this train.
Previously, on September 5, the Department of Construction worked with the Vietnam Railway Corporation and related units on the trial run of the train serving civil servants, public employees and people traveling daily from Hai Duong station to Thuong Ly station, Hai Phong station and vice versa. On September 15, the Railway Transport Joint Stock Company issued a document to develop a train plan between Hai Duong station and Hai Phong station. The company arranged to use a 6-car train with more than 300 seats. In case the number of passengers increases, it will be allowed to add more service cars.
Frequency of operation: 2 trips/day, morning and afternoon, from Monday to Friday every week. The train departs from Hai Duong station at 6:00, arrives at Thuong Ly station at about 6:55 and arrives at Hai Phong station at about 7:10. The afternoon train departs from Hai Phong station at 17:15, arrives at Thuong Ly station at about 17:25, and arrives at Hai Duong station at about 18:20. To ensure convenient travel, the city has a plan to arrange shuttle buses to pick up and drop off civil servants and public employees from the station to their workplace and vice versa.
The ticket price from Hai Duong station to Thuong Ly station, Hai Phong station and vice versa is 55,000 VND/ticket. Passengers who buy round-trip tickets on the same day will receive a 20% discount. If passengers travel in groups, a more preferential price policy will be applied, buying 4 tickets but paying for 3 tickets. If passengers buy monthly tickets, the price will be 1.5 million VND/month.
Work with peace of mind
It is known that after the merger, the need for travel of civil servants, public employees, and workers from the West to the East and vice versa is quite large. According to a survey by the Department of Construction, about 1,400 people need to travel daily by public transport; more than 700 people travel irregularly (3 times/week or less)... Meanwhile, the distance from the West center to the East of the city is more than 50 km, the travel time is long, the public transport system currently does not meet the needs and working hours.

The city's organization of an additional train connecting the West and East clearly demonstrates the city's leaders' concern, aiming to reduce difficulties and meet the travel needs of civil servants, public employees and workers after the merger. Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen, Deputy Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Committee of the City People's Council, said that every day, she travels from the West to the City's Political - Administrative Center to work by shared car, on Highway 5 there is always high and complicated traffic density, and congestion is likely to occur. When there was information that the city would open an additional train, creating convenience and ensuring working hours for cadres, civil servants and public employees, Ms. Huyen was very excited. "Safe and punctual trains will help civil servants, public employees and workers reduce travel difficulties and feel secure in their work," Ms. Huyen happily said.
On the afternoon of September 16, comrade Le Van Hieu, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Council, together with leaders of a number of departments, branches, and units, surveyed and inspected the actual infrastructure and service quality at Hai Phong station and Thuong Ly station to prepare for transporting civil servants, public employees, and workers from the West to the East of the city to work by train.
Through on-site inspection and listening to reports, comrade Le Van Hieu directed relevant departments, branches and units to urgently prepare all necessary conditions to meet the daily travel needs of civil servants, public employees and workers. In particular, pay attention to upgrading and renovating the parking lot at Hai Duong Station; adding more necessities and essential services on the train; ensuring security and safety for passengers... The Department of Construction closely coordinates with Vietnam Railways to ensure stable and highly efficient train operations, well meeting the travel needs of civil servants, public employees and people of the city.
