Candidates in Ho Chi Minh City complete the combined exam

Ho Chi Minh City has more than 49,000 candidates registered for the Natural Science exam, more than the number of candidates registered for the Social Science exam (Social Science subjects: History more than 37,000 candidates, Geography more than 36,000 candidates and Civic Education more than 29,000 candidates).

Xuan Vinh, a candidate at Vo Truong Toan Secondary School exam site, District 1, said that he took the Social Science exam and planned to use this combination to apply to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Of the three subjects, History is the subject that Vinh is not confident with his test results: "The combination test is similar to the review tests at school, but there are some questions that "trick" students. I got about 70% of History, and I am confident that I got over 90% correct in Geography and Civic Education."

As for Quoc An, a candidate taking the Natural Science exam at Truong Chinh High School (District 12), he said that of the three subjects in the exam, Physics is the subject he is confident of getting a high score, while Biology has many difficult questions: "I did some of the previous years' exams and found this year's exam a bit more difficult, but still at a level I can do."

Regarding Chemistry, Mr. Pham Le Thanh, a Chemistry teacher at Nguyen Hien High School (District 11) said that the exam was easy, the structure and level of differentiation were relatively stable, without many fluctuations.

In the first 21 questions, all the theory is at the level of recognition and understanding, mainly the 12th grade program. The highest differentiation is in the last 7-8 questions, including general theory questions and Chemistry problems.

With this Chemistry test, Mr. Thanh believes that average and good students can easily achieve 6 - 7.5 points. Good students can achieve from 8 to 8.75 and excellent students who have mastered the knowledge for all 3 years can achieve over 9 points.

Ms. Doan Thuy Nga, Biology teacher at Bui Thi Xuan High School (District 1) said that this year's exam tends to increase the score for the theory part. In last year's exam, the theory part accounted for about 8 points, but this year it is about 9 points, equivalent to 36 questions and 4 exercise questions. In the 4 exercise questions, there are 3 easy calculation questions and 1 difficult question. In the last 10 questions, there is 1 quite long and complicated calculation question, 4 questions have high application.

Ms. Nga also said that this year's exam is the final year following the 2006 program, but there are many innovations in the direction of assessing capacity, clearly shown in the last 10 questions in the exam: "The average score is probably 6-6.5, good students can get 8.5-9, if they are mentally strong and have a good grasp of the theory, they can handle it. For the remaining 1 point, students must be really excellent to achieve it because the content is quite long, difficult to understand, and complicated. If you lose your composure, you will not be able to think and do it."
