Today, in the exciting atmosphere of the historic autumn days, the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense have successfully organized many important political events (celebrating the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the 11th Army Emulation Congress); at the same time, the entire army is striving to compete for achievements to welcome the 12th Army Party Congress, towards the 14th National Congress of the Party; I am very pleased to represent the leaders of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army to attend the closing ceremony, awarding prizes to the 16th "Simple but Noble Examples" Writing Contest and launching the 17th Writing Contest organized by the People's Army Newspaper in coordination with the Press-Publishing Department/Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, the People's Army Publishing House, and the North Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank.
On behalf of the leadership of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, I respectfully wish all delegates, distinguished guests and all comrades good health and happiness; and wish our program great success.
During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh once advised: “A living example is worth more than a hundred propaganda speeches”. He always respected the role and noble value of simple but typical examples, because they are the crystallization of national cultural traditions, revolutionary ethics, the spirit of selfless dedication, and absolute loyalty to the Party, the Fatherland, and the people.
Imbued with his teachings, over the past years, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army has directed the People's Army Newspaper to preside over and coordinate with agencies and units to launch and successfully organize the writing contest "Simple but noble examples". The contest is not only a forum to honor but also contributes to fostering and spreading noble human values throughout society; adding spiritual strength for officers and soldiers of the entire army to strive to excel in all assigned tasks.

Over 16 seasons, the contest has attracted thousands of entries, many of which are very carefully invested, reflecting realistically, emotionally and profoundly typical examples in many areas of social life.
The results of the 16th Contest this time further affirmed the vitality of the movement. After nearly a year of launching, according to the report of the Organizing Committee, the contest has received more than 400 works from authors sent in. Of which, more than 200 works were selected and published in the People's Army Newspaper. Through two preliminary and final rounds with the participation of many prestigious journalists, the Organizing Committee unanimously selected and awarded 3 A prizes, 3 B prizes, 4 C prizes and 12 consolation prizes, and at the same time honored 22 typical characters in the winning works.
The above results not only reflect the scale and quality of the contest but also show the interest and response of the whole society. The contest has attracted a large number of writers not only in the press but also many collaborators and non-professional writers from many professions and fields of social life. It is this diversity that has created a comprehensive, rich and authentic picture of ordinary but noble examples in the community.
This year's works continue to be highly revelatory, vividly reflecting real people and real events. They are simple yet noble examples in all walks of life, in all areas of social life, with many contributions to the community, society, the people and the Fatherland. Most prominent is the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new era, not only steadfast in training and combat readiness but also a reliable support for the people in preventing and fighting natural disasters and epidemics; leading in scientific research, applying new technologies, making an important contribution to the cause of building the Army, consolidating national defense, protecting the Fatherland, further enhancing the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the hearts of the people.
On behalf of the leadership of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, I acknowledge and commend the People's Army Newspaper and other agencies and units for their coordination in organizing and maintaining the contest effectively and with quality, creating a strong and continuous influence over the past 16 years.
Warm congratulations to the authors whose works won prizes and the typical figures discovered and honored by the press in recent years and at the Closing and Awarding Ceremony of the 16th Writing Competition today.
In the coming years, the world and regional situation is forecast to continue to have rapid, complex and unpredictable developments. The Fourth Industrial Revolution, especially the strong development of digital technology and artificial intelligence, has both opened up many opportunities and posed enormous challenges to all areas of social life, especially ideological, cultural and press work. Hostile, reactionary and opportunistic political forces continue to promote "peaceful evolution", promote "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the Party; take full advantage of cyberspace and social networks to spread bad and toxic information, directly affecting the thoughts and feelings of cadres, soldiers and people.
In that context, the news agencies and press of the Army, especially the People's Army Newspaper, need to closely coordinate with accompanying agencies and units to continue to maintain political orientation, actively innovate and be creative in organizational methods to attract more and more collaborators, authors and readers to participate; discover and spread more typical examples in all areas of social life from the grassroots, especially in the armed forces, on the front lines, in difficult places, remote areas, borders, islands, where there are many typical advanced examples who are silently contributing to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in the new period.
On this occasion, I sincerely hope that agencies, units and enterprises will continue to closely coordinate with the People's Army Newspaper to organize the 17th Writing Contest and subsequent contests to achieve better and better results, contributing to further affirming the Party's absolute and direct leadership in all aspects over the Army; consolidating and fostering people's trust in the Party, State and Army; creating great endogenous strength and a solid foundation for our country to confidently and firmly enter a new era - the era of integration, development and strong growth of the Vietnamese people for the goal of peace, independence, democracy, wealth, prosperity, civilization, happiness, and steady progress towards socialism.
Once again, I wish all delegates, distinguished guests and comrades good health, happiness and success.
I wish the award-winning authors to continue their creative work to bring to society many valuable and influential works.
Wishing the honored people to continue contributing to the prosperous development of the nation.
