Van Trang spends time with her family during Lunar New Year

* Hello Van Trang! Your family just had a new member at the end of the year, are your plans for Tet different?

- It will probably be a little different! But my twins are only 3 years old. So in the past few years, I have gotten used to having a baby at home. Most of the time my family just stays at home, not traveling far. Perhaps the longest trip was to Tien Giang - my hometown - to visit my grandparents.

I have to say that my baby is my proudest moment in 2024. Since I was pregnant for most of the past year, I just stayed home and took care of the children. Now that my fourth child is only 3 months old, I am mainly focused on being a mother.

* How does this new milestone change your life?

- I am much busier and it would be wrong to say that I am not tired. I have to take care of both the baby and the three older children. Sometimes I feel sorry for my children because I do not have much time for them. In the past, when I had only one child, I spent all my time playing with them and teaching them many things in life. Now they want me to play with them, but I am busy taking care of my younger siblings so I cannot. But I think that situation has created very cute moments, typically when the children play with each other without their mother.

I am lucky to have a large family with many members to support me in taking care of the children, from grandparents to grandparents. My husband will take care of all the children's education. My eldest child is already in grade 3, so my husband will be the one to closely monitor their learning process, helping me somewhat.

* Temporarily putting aside your artistic career to take care of your family, do you ever miss your job when seeing your colleagues develop?

- Having a fourth baby was part of the couple's plan, so everything went smoothly, without any surprises. But it's not true to say that I didn't think about it or feel sad about my career. I'm also an artist, so sometimes I'm a bit sensitive. But I don't take it too seriously, partly because my personality is adaptable, and I can find joy in any environment I'm put in. For example, when I'm filming, I'll devote myself to my work, and at home, I'll find joy with my children. I think my priorities will be different at each stage.

I am having very beautiful milestones in my life. For example, when I was 25-26 years old, I got married and had children at an age when I was still healthy and strong enough to take care of them. Later, when I am old, I will have more time to spend with my children. In any situation, I can find joy.

* Before adapting to current life, perhaps you also went through a period of "psychological struggle"?

- Of course. When I was most active in the arts, social media was not as developed as it is now for people to build their own image. When I slowed down, I saw my friends running very fast. Sometimes I felt sad, thinking that if I hadn't returned to my family, I would have fulfilled many of my youthful dreams. But I have no regrets when looking back at the past time. Because every afternoon when I see my four children playing together, I feel very happy. Gaining something will lose something else, I understand that so I accept it. There will be times when I feel sad, but everything passes smoothly.

* Is family Van Trang's biggest source of motivation at present?

- That's right. My friends like Thanh Truc, Kha Ly... all said that if they knew having children would be so great, they would have had them sooner. As for me, I'm always concerned about my career, my family doesn't forbid me or force me to stay at home. My mother-in-law even wants me to return to the stage soon because everyone likes the feeling of sitting below watching me transform into a character. I can arrange the stage more easily, but with movies, if there is a suitable project, I'm still willing to participate. But the most important thing is that I have to get back to my original shape before I can be confident again.

Luckily, I don't suffer from postpartum depression. Every time I give birth, I feel refreshed and not in that state. Part of my luck is having a loving family by my side. I see that each child has a different personality, so I feel like I'm discovering a new movie. I'm really crazy and obsessed with children. I like to explore, play with, and teach them. Since I was little, I've been attached to my mother, and even when I got married and had children, she was still a strong support for me. So I also hope to be able to do that for my children. That's why I haven't returned to my career for a long time. I want to be by my side to grow up with my children because I know that their childhood passes very quickly. The more I'm with them, the more I feel like I don't have enough time for them. Film projects invite me a lot and my family supports me, but I myself don't want to return because I can't bear to leave my children to focus on work.

* Do you want your children to follow art like you or do business like your husband?

- I think that when your child has a job he or she loves, it's like he or she doesn't have to work a day. I just hope that he or she knows what he or she likes and pursues it. Because there are many people who struggle with that, and even when they grow up, they don't know what they want. I think that choosing a job for your child based on the interests of the father or mother is not the way. But if your child has artistic talent, I will be happy.

* Thank you Van Trang for taking the time to share!
