Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism believes that the city is facing a golden opportunity to renew the tourism industry, because of its diverse resources, large market, and complete infrastructure.

To become a multi-center, modern and sustainable tourism center of the country and the region, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism has planned to re-exploit many new tourism products and destinations.

The largest tourism market in the country

Within the new geographical area, according to the department, Ho Chi Minh City has 681 resources that have the potential to become tourist destinations.

From urban areas, craft villages, industrial areas, riverside areas to islands, architectural heritage systems, modern museums, traditional markets, street food , creative spaces and festivals are places where MICE tours, city tours, cultural tourism and night tourism products are strongly developed.

In addition, industrial spaces, craft villages, and riverside areas are potential areas for industrial tourism.

The island resort space with coastal resorts, golf courses, nature reserves and health tourism is the foundation for high-end resort products.

With a population of over 14 million people, Ho Chi Minh City is the largest tourism market in the country, not only in terms of quantity but also in terms of demand differentiation.

"Young workers have a high demand for short-term products, weekend getaways, and nightlife. Young families with small children often look for experiences close to nature, life skills education , visits to craft villages, farms, and museums.

The middle-aged and elderly prefer traditional cultural tours, coastal resorts or health tourism. Organizations, businesses and schools have demand for conference, academic, exhibition and thematic tourism products. This is a source of customers with great purchasing power, regular demand and little seasonal fluctuations, an advantage that not every destination has," the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism emphasized.

In addition, the city has outstanding advantages in terms of transport infrastructure and services such as Long Thanh International Airport, which when put into operation will shorten the time from international to urban center and resort areas to only 30-45 minutes.

Or inter-regional highways connect urban, industrial and coastal spaces, forming a corridor axis for tourism development along specialized routes. And the system of seaports, logistics, inland waterways and major rivers opens up space for river tourism development.

Many exploitation plans, aiming towards a modern tourist center

According to statistics from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, there are nearly 93,000 accommodation rooms, from high-end hotels to homestays, eco-resorts, along with a system of shopping centers, international hospitals, golf courses, entertainment areas... The city is fully capable of receiving large-scale domestic guests and high-end international guests.

Ho Chi Minh City's tourism industry is perfecting its distinctive product groups, organized along the axis of linked experiences. Notably, the journey "From the city along the river to the sea" will connect the central urban spaces, riverside ecological areas and beach resorts in a continuous route;

Or the "Sea Culture" series, specifically this series will exploit coastal destinations associated with beliefs, heritage...

In addition, specialized products such as cuisine, night tours, and craft villages are also being gradually developed to personalize the experience...

Particularly, major events such as the Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair (ITE HCMC); City Tourism Week; Ho Chi Minh City River Festival, Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon... will expand to the entire region, associated with new products and new destinations.
