Ho Chi Minh City identifies artificial intelligence as a breakthrough driving force

Speaking at the workshop “Implementing ESG with AI, what should businesses do?” co-organized by Dan Tri newspaper and the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City on the afternoon of August 14, Mr. Le Thanh Minh, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City, said that in 2025, Ho Chi Minh City organized many AI-related events.

Some notable events include National Digital Transformation Day 2025, AI Challenge and AI.Star 2025. These events attract hundreds of research groups and domestic and foreign businesses; creating opportunities for innovative and creative ideas to be introduced and connected for investment.

Mr. Minh said that artificial intelligence (AI) is identified by Ho Chi Minh City as a breakthrough driving force to realize the vision of becoming a leading center of knowledge-based economy , innovation, creativity, and sustainable development in the region.

Ho Chi Minh City's mission is to build a strong AI ecosystem, connecting the State with businesses and the community.

Regarding infrastructure and AI platforms, Mr. Minh said that the Department of Science and Technology has completed a plan to develop high-performance computing infrastructure. Ho Chi Minh City is gradually completing a shared data warehouse designed according to open standards.

In addition, Ho Chi Minh City is also training and developing human resources. Human resource development is a decisive factor for the success of the AI ​​strategy. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology has synchronously deployed many training programs.

Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City opened 4 AI training classes for nearly 500 officials and civil servants; opened 4 pilot AI classes for 203 students who won prizes in city-level competitions, arousing their passion for technology; launched the "AI For Citizens" program with the goal of training 3 million people with AI knowledge by 2030.

The workshop "Implementing ESG with AI, what should businesses do?" is an event of the Vietnam ESG Forum 2025 with the theme "Science and technology and driving force for sustainable development".

The Vietnam ESG Forum is an open forum, initiated and organized by Dan Tri newspaper from 2024 with many activities and series of events, of which the highlight is the Vietnam ESG Awards.

The theme of this year's Forum is assessed by members of the Vietnam ESG Forum High Council and experts as being consistent with the spirit of Resolution 57 of the Politburo , which is to take science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation as the driving force for development.
