Today (October 18), Ho Chi Minh City Open University held the opening ceremony of the new school year 2022-2023. Notably, this is the first year the school has received students and trainees from the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

Right before the opening day of the new school year, Ho Chi Minh City Open University held a handover ceremony and received 30 international students from the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
Professor Nguyen Minh Ha, Principal of the school, said that over the years, the school has received international students from many other countries such as France, Canada, Türkiye, etc. But this school year, for the first time, the school has received students from the Lao People's Democratic Republic. Professor Ha expressed his hope that the international students would comply with the regulations and complete their studies and training well during their time at the school.
To the new students admitted to the school this year, the President of Ho Chi Minh City Open University also wishes: "You should overcome the difficulties ahead and make your dreams and ambitions come true. The achievements we have today and tomorrow are not only thanks to the support from the school but also require more efforts from you."
"Students need to determine their learning attitude, clearly define their learning goals, and be ready to acquire new knowledge in a rapidly changing and internationalizing technological environment. Be proactive, confident and creative in learning, and be consistent with your learning goals and plans," added Professor Ha.
In addition, Prof. Dr. Ha believes that students need to pay attention to improving their skills through activities at school, clubs and team activities. In particular, students need to focus on foreign language and IT skills to easily access world knowledge and careers after graduation.
"Always practice responsibility, professionalism, positive attitude, and compassion through learning, exchange, and community service activities because these are among the core values of the school. In addition, we should always focus on protecting our own health and the community's," Professor Ha emphasized.
This school year, Ho Chi Minh City Open University will continue to promote the application of information technology in teaching and management. According to information from the school, the rate of graduates having jobs within 1 year is over 93%.
