Nguyen Hue High School, located at 83 Dinh Tien Hoang Street (Phu Xuan Ward, Hue City), was established on September 15, 1964 with the original name of Thanh Noi High School for Girls. After the country's reunification, on September 5, 1976, the school changed its name to Nguyen Hue High School and is currently called Nguyen Hue High School.

After nearly 60 years of formation and development, this school has become a prestigious address for general education in Hue city, contributing to training many generations of students to grow up and be attached to their homeland and country.

With its tradition of studiousness, the school has been honored to receive many noble awards: First, Second and Third Class Labor Medals; for many consecutive years, the Party Committee has excellently fulfilled its tasks; the Trade Union has been recognized as strong; the Youth Union, the Red Cross Society and the Association for Promotion of Education have all received certificates of merit from the Central and local levels. This is a clear demonstration of the solidarity, determination and constant creativity of the collective of cadres, teachers, employees and students.

Currently, Nguyen Hue High School has 40 classes with 1,717 students, a team of 102 staff, teachers and employees, of which 100% of teachers are qualified and above standard; there is 1 doctor, 1 graduate student and 45 masters. The school focuses on innovating teaching methods, assessing students' abilities, combining knowledge teaching with skills training, organizing many mock exams, serious tests and focusing on nurturing excellent students.

In just the last 2 school years (2023-2024 and 2024-2025), the school's students have won 74 provincial-level excellent student awards, including 12 second prizes, 19 third prizes and 43 encouragement prizes. In the 2025 high school graduation exam, the school achieved a 100% passing rate, and the number of students with high rankings awarded by the Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee ranked second in the city.

Along with the quality of teaching and learning, the school is also a bright spot in movement activities. Nguyen Hue High School students have won many awards in sports, arts, science and technology, English debate; participated in the "Green Melody" Festival, student football tournament, folk dance and flashmob festival, "Hue in me" contest... and especially the ASEAN Camp in the Philippines in 2024 - where teachers and students spread the image of Hue culture and people to international friends.

Another remarkable milestone was the 60th Anniversary of the establishment of Thanh Noi High School for Girls - Nguyen Hue High School (September 15, 1964 - September 15, 2024). The big event connected many generations of former teachers and students to visit the school, support disadvantaged students and strengthen the Alumni Liaison Committee, creating a long-term resource for the school.

These results have contributed to making Nguyen Hue High School a typical advanced collective, continuously receiving certificates of merit from organizations from central to local levels.

Not only focusing on “teaching letters”, Nguyen Hue High School also cares about educating human personality and equipping students with life skills. The school organizes many rich extracurricular activities such as legal experience activities with the Court and the City Police, traffic safety education, fire prevention and fighting, baking, flower arrangement, wall newspaper competitions; “Green Sunday” movement, “Say no to plastic bags and disposable plastic”, building a “Green – Clean – Beautiful” school environment…

In particular, the school focuses on educating cultural behavior through the "4 pleases" movement (hello, sorry, thank you, permission), creating a friendly and disciplined environment. Students are encouraged to live a healthy life, be compassionate, love their homeland, respect the law, and have the awareness to study and practice to become useful citizens.

Foreign languages and international integration are also strengths of Nguyen Hue High School. The school has implemented a pilot English program, effectively exploited the foreign language room, increased exchanges with students from Japan, Korea, ASEAN, etc. Thereby, students improve their communication skills and confidently integrate. Many academic and artistic clubs such as the English Debate Club, Music Club, Media Club, Red Cross Youth Volunteer Club are active, becoming a playground for practicing life skills and developing talents.

The spirit of charity is also strongly spread in the school. The school's Red Cross, together with alumni, parents, and donors, awarded hundreds of scholarships worth more than 222 million VND to disadvantaged students in the 2024-2025 school year. In addition, the school also organized many volunteer activities in mountainous communes, supporting disabled students and disadvantaged children.

Other mass organizations such as the Party Committee, Trade Union, and Youth Union have all promoted their roles, maintained solidarity, organized many gratitude and exchange activities, and cared for the lives of teachers and students. In particular, the school's Party Committee has achieved the title of "Excellently completing tasks" for many consecutive years, contributing to maintaining the direction of stable and sustainable development.

Nguyen Hue High School has also pioneered many innovative models, such as hosting the ASEAN Open Camp with the theme “Youth with Heritage Journey” (2023), organizing an international seminar on innovation in English teaching; or integrating education on protecting the marine, island and lagoon environment of Thua Thien Hue into Biology (2024-2025). These models not only improve the quality of education but also affirm the pioneering and innovative role of the school in the context of global integration.
