For nearly 80 years, Vietnam News Agency has accompanied the nation's history, serving as both an official news agency and a bridge for the world to better understand the country and people of Vietnam.
On that journey, many international journalists and lecturers had the opportunity to meet, cooperate and have deep feelings for Vietnam News Agency.
Sharing with reporters of the Vietnam News Agency in Brussels about his return to Vietnam last November to participate in direct training on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for many journalists and editors of the Vietnam News Agency, lecturer David Grunewald of the Free University of Brussels - ULB said his first impression was the dynamism and youthful spirit rarely seen in an agency that has entered its 80th year.
Mr. Grunewald said that the strength of Vietnam News Agency is constantly seeking to innovate communication methods. Instead of viewing digital platforms as a threat, Vietnam News Agency sees them as a great opportunity to reach new audiences.
The AI lecturer commented: “Many other media corporations in the world see YouTube as a threat, but you see it as an opportunity to spread reports. Not just stopping at TikTok, Instagram or Facebook, developing your own YouTube channels is a very progressive direction."
If Grunewald was impressed by its youthfulness, journalist Alain Gerard - Editor-in-Chief of l'Attitude magazine, viewed Vietnam News Agency from a different perspective: its stature and international connecting role.
According to Mr. Gérard, with about 30 permanent offices abroad and more than 30 permanent offices in the country, Vietnam News Agency not only provides information within the country but also creates a large network of connections. He said: "This is an extremely important structure to both open Vietnam to receive information from around the world and allow the world to access information about Vietnam."
Reviewing the training sessions organized at Vietnam News Agency from 2019 to present, journalist Gerard expressed that he was particularly impressed with the clear change of the team of reporters: "Your curiosity, openness and desire to master information are increasingly stronger, not just stopping at copying but wanting to assert yourself through quality works."
In the context of increasingly fierce global information, journalist Alain Thomas emphasized the importance of Vietnam News Agency as the country's "information shield".
He stated: “In the world of global media, where information is borderless and competition is fierce, the role of national press agencies is becoming increasingly essential. Vietnam News Agency is not only the main unit providing official information, but also protecting national interests, image and sovereignty on the information front."

As a colleague of Vietnam News Agency's resident reporters working in the European Union (EU) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Japanese journalist Nagayo Taniguchi offers a unique perspective.
To him, the most valuable thing about Vietnam News Agency reporters is their patience and craftsmanship in each press product, even when the world press is being caught up in the automation trend.
He commented: “In the context of globalization and content standardization, Vietnamese journalists still spend a lot of time and passion on in-depth topics. That is a great way of doing things, a persistent struggle against the assimilation of modern media."
From the perspective of international friends, Vietnam News Agency appears with many layers of meaning: youthful and creative; an international bridge; a pillar protecting national information; and persistently preserving the values of traditional journalism. Admiration comes not only from its stature, strategy or technology, but also from the human spirit: the desire for innovation, responsibility to society and openness to friends around the world.
In the eyes of international friends, Vietnam News Agency is not only a press agency but also a living proof of the power of combining tradition and modernity, identity and integration, journalism and people./.
