For a 'bright - green - developing' Thai Nguyen

After merging the administrative unit with Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen affirmed its strategic vision and determination to break through, aiming for the position of the region's growth pole. With strong steps in developing high-tech industry, digital economy, green economy and improving the quality of people's lives, the province is gradually realizing the aspiration of "Bright - green - developed Thai Nguyen".

Solid foundation

In the 2020-2025 term, Thai Nguyen achieved many outstanding results: Average GRDP increased to 119 million VND/person/year, digital economy accounted for 35.5% of GRDP, ranked 3rd nationwide; digital transformation index was continuously in the Top 10 nationwide. Key infrastructure was promoted with Cho Moi - Bac Kan expressway, regional connecting routes such as Thai Nguyen - Bac Ninh - Phu Tho, Homie City - a model social housing area in Pho Yen ward, and the expansion of Yen Binh, Song Cong II, and Diem Thuy industrial parks.

Administrative reform, especially the two-tier local government model, has been effective: the government is close to the people, serves wholeheartedly, and inspires trust among the people and the business community. Culture and society have made remarkable progress: 85% of communes meet advanced new rural standards; the poverty rate has decreased by an average of 1.4% per year; health, education, and social security have received comprehensive attention. This is an important premise for the 1st Provincial Party Congress to set breakthrough goals.

Adhering to the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the Central Resolutions on growth model innovation, green transformation, and digital transformation, Thai Nguyen determined: rapid development coupled with sustainability; socio-economic development associated with environmental protection. On that basis, the province aims to become a center of high-tech industry, digital economy, education - training, logistics services and eco-tourism in the region; at the same time, aiming for a modern, humane Thai Nguyen in harmony with nature.

Comrade Trinh Viet Hung, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, affirmed : Thai Nguyen is striving to promote the green transformation process with three main goals: Greening economic sectors; greening lifestyles and promoting sustainable consumption . The province will effectively utilize the potential and strengths of the locality in the transformation process , while connecting with investors in the fields of industrial production ; human resource training; tea planting and processing... towards green, sustainable growth and developing the carbon credit market to serve the Government's goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

From that major orientation, the province has identified key solutions. First of all, developing a green economy, digital economy and modern infrastructure is the key driving force. The province will continue to attract large-scale FDI projects, prioritizing high-tech, environmentally friendly and energy-saving industries. Industrial parks apply green standards and invest in modern wastewater treatment systems to both produce and protect the ecosystem.

The digital economy is considered a spearhead of growth: businesses are encouraged to apply AI, expand digital services and e-commerce. Featured products, OCOP products, and Tan Cuong tea will be promoted on international e-commerce platforms, supporting cooperatives and business households to build digital brands and connect to the global value chain.

In parallel, the province prioritizes inter-regional infrastructure, completing the CT.07 Hanoi - Thai Nguyen - Cao Bang expressway, beltways, bridges, and logistics systems. Urban areas are oriented to become smart, energy-saving, and climate-adaptive cities.

Along with industrial development, environmental protection and modern new rural construction, clean agriculture is an inseparable task. The province will complete sustainable urban planning, upgrade wastewater treatment systems, protect the Cau River basin , Nui Coc Lake , Ba Be Lake, the tourism symbols of the region.

The program of planting new trees and restoring upstream forests has been promoted to protect the ecology. The construction of advanced and exemplary new rural areas continues to be promoted, focusing on investment in electricity, water, school and healthcare infrastructure in remote areas to narrow the development gap.

Agriculture is shifting strongly towards organic direction, applying science and technology and building sustainable value chains, while strengthening the Thai Nguyen tea brand with high quality and transparent traceability.

Community tourism and eco-tourism associated with preserving ethnic culture are also focused on, exploiting the value of ATK Dinh Hoa relics, ATK Cho Don, traditional craft villages, Tay, Nung, Dao, Mong ethnic villages... to both create livelihoods and preserve cultural soul.
