Previously, on September 24, Mr. HMT and his wife were working in the fields in Hop Hoa village, Ea M'Droh commune when they discovered two monkeys fighting with the family's dogs. The family restrained and brought the two monkeys home. After looking up information, Mr. T's family learned that this is a rare monkey species, listed in the Vietnam Red Book.
On the afternoon of September 26, Mr. T. contacted the Buon Don Regional Forest Protection Department and asked to hand it over to the authorities.

The Buon Don Regional Forest Protection Department has coordinated with the Ea M'Droh Commune Police to receive the two monkeys. These are two rare monkeys belonging to group IIB, namely the Red-faced Monkey and the Pig-tailed Monkey. The Department has now handed them over to the Elephant Conservation, Animal Rescue and Forest Protection Center for care and release into the wild according to regulations.

The red-faced macaque has the scientific name Macaca arctoide; the pig-tailed macaque has the scientific name Macaca leonina. Group IIB includes forest animals that are not yet threatened with extinction but are at risk of being threatened if not strictly managed, exploitation and use for commercial purposes are restricted, and species listed in Appendix II CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) are naturally distributed in Vietnam.
