240 domestic and international rubber workers compete at the 2024 Golden Hands Competition

On December 16, in Binh Phuoc , the 14th Golden Hands Rubber Harvesting Competition 2024 organized by the Vietnam Rubber Industry Group (VRG) officially opened.

The 14th Golden Hands Rubber Harvesting Competition was held from December 14-17 with the participation of 240 contestants (including 60 reserve contestants) from 60 units inside and outside the VRG Group. These are excellent and typical workers who won the competition in rubber units, representing tens of thousands of workers in the entire Vietnamese rubber industry to attend the competition.

Contestants must pass 3 exams including: Theoretical exam in the form of multiple choice with 60 questions related to rubber care and latex exploitation within 30 minutes; Tools exam, including 10 items related to latex exploitation and harvesting; and finally, practical exam of tapping 100 rubber trees within 22 minutes.

In addition to the official awards, candidates who score a perfect 100 will receive the Golden Hand title, and those who score over 96 points will be recognized as latex tapping masters. All participants will be awarded industry-level skilled worker certificates.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Le Thanh Hung, General Director of VRG, emphasized: “Up to now, the contest has become a big festival of the Vietnamese rubber industry, an opportunity for workers and laborers to exchange, discuss and learn from the experience of the tapping team, and at the same time to evaluate and test the skills of latex tapping workers. Through the contest, workers who are good at theory and practice will be discovered, so that they can continue to be trained and replicated as typical examples, becoming key players in the field of latex tapping at the grassroots level.

The Golden Hands Competition in Rubber Latex Tapping organized by VRG has gone beyond the framework of a regular Skills Competition and has truly become a traditional festival for rubber workers. In particular, although there are many countries in the world that grow rubber, only Vietnam organizes a latex harvesting competition on an industry-wide scale. This is a unique point and can be considered a cultural feature of the Vietnamese rubber industry.

“In addition, the Group's Board of Directors hopes and believes that, through the organization of the Golden Hands Competition for latex harvesting, it will promote the spirit of emulation in production and labor, sprint emulation among the team of workers, civil servants, and laborers, striving to surpass each ton of latex, joining hands with businesses to overcome difficulties and succeed. Thereby, contributing to the Group's completion of the 2024 plan goals", Mr. Le Thanh Hung believes.

Within the framework of the 2024 Golden Hands Rubber Harvesting Competition, on December 16, VRG also held a conference to honor the 2 tons/ha Club and individuals who won high prizes at the 2022 Competition. This is a meaningful activity to honor companies and farms with garden productivity of 2 tons/ha, especially groups with outstanding productivity of 3 tons/ha.

Productivity and quality of the garden are important factors that determine the production and business efficiency of the unit. After 17 years of establishment, up to now, the 2 tons/ha Club of VRG has recruited many members. There are many units that have continuously maintained their position in the Club for many years, including the Rubber Companies: Dong Phu, Phu Rieng, Tay Ninh, Binh Long, Loc Ninh, Dong Nai, Phuoc Hoa, Kon Tum , Viet Lao... and many new units have strived to make their name in the Group's 2 tons Club such as the Rubber Companies: Eah'Leo, Sa Thay, Chu Mom Ray, Tan Bien - Kampong Thom, Chu Se - Kampong Thom, Ba Ria - Kampong Thom, Dong Nai - Kratie...

At the conference, VRG also honored 79 individuals who won the title of Golden Hands in rubber latex harvesting in 2022. These are typical core members in the movement "Practice skills - compete for good workers" of the entire group. The Group honored individuals who won high prizes in the Golden Hands Competition to spread and promote the movement of training and improving theoretical skills - solid practice to thereby improve garden productivity and increase income for workers.
