On September 5, the People's Committee of Ia Dom commune, Gia Lai province, said there were 9 cases of children eating toad meat and suffering from food poisoning.
Previously, on the afternoon of September 3, 9 students, aged from 10 to 14, living in Mook Trang village, Ia Dom commune, all had symptoms of nausea, abdominal pain, difficulty breathing, numbness of lips and tongue, and fatigue. Through verification, when adults went to work in the fields, the children arbitrarily kidnapped and ate them.

Upon receiving the information, the Commune People's Committee coordinated with the police to bring 9 cases to the commune health station for first aid and then transferred them to Gia Lai Children's Hospital for treatment. The initial cause was that the children had processed and eaten toad meat, causing poisoning.
Representatives of Gia Lai Children's Hospital said that the health of all patients has stabilized and there are no critical cases. The hospital has mobilized doctors to focus on treatment and educate patients about the dangers of eating toad meat.
Mr. Le Trong Phuc, Chairman of Ia Dom Commune People's Committee, said that local people have limited knowledge about the dangers of toad meat, so they are very subjective.
On the evening of September 4, the Commune People’s Committee and the mass organizations went to Mook Trang village to propagate and warn people about the toxicity of toad meat. At the same time, the commune also encouraged anyone who had eaten toad meat to go to a medical facility for a health check.
