Does garlic help purify the blood?

After verification, THIP, India's health information and fact-checking platform, said on September 14 that the information being spread is incorrect . Garlic does not help purify the blood.

The human body does not need an external "blood purifier". Organs such as the liver, kidneys, lungs and skin are constantly filtering out toxins and waste.

According to medical experts, garlic contains sulfur compounds such as allicin, which have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties but do not have blood purifying effects.

Some studies have shown that garlic can help lower cholesterol and blood pressure when consumed regularly. However, this is not the same as purging the blood overnight with just one clove of garlic, which is an exaggeration and has no scientific evidence.

Dr. Almas Fatma, a diabetologist in Mumbai (India), said there is no herbal or natural treatment that can "purify" the blood like dialysis for kidney failure patients.

While some herbs may support liver or kidney health, they cannot replace the function of these organs in the body or perform the complex blood filtration process.

Maintaining habits such as drinking enough water and eating a balanced diet can help support the body's natural detoxification process, but they do not directly help purify the blood.

The effect is mild and gradual.

Scientifically, garlic can help reduce some cardiovascular risks such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol but does not alter heart muscle health and does not help the heart "strengthen like iron".

To keep your heart healthy, you need to exercise, eat a balanced diet, not smoke, and manage medical conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure.

Overall, eating raw garlic can support overall health in a few ways, such as mildly supporting blood pressure, improving blood flow, aiding digestion (which can cause heartburn in some people), and supporting immunity. However, the effects take time to appear, not overnight miracles.
