Quang Tri Border Guards urgently help people cope with storm No. 6

On August 30, facing the complicated developments of storm No. 6 with winds of level 6-7, gusts of level 8-9, waves of 3-5m high, and water level rise of 0.2-0.4m in the sea area of ​​Quang Tri, the Provincial Border Guard mobilized forces and vehicles to support people in coping with the storm.

According to the Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard, the entire province has 8,667 vehicles, with 23,927 workers, that have reached safe anchorage; only 58 vehicles with 271 workers are still operating at sea.

On the land border, rainfall is commonly 100-300mm, in some places over 350mm causing flooding of dozens of culverts and overflow bridges in the communes of Thuong Trach, Kim Dien, Kim Phu, Huong Lap, Dakrong, Tuyen Lam, Dan Hoa...

Many areas were partially isolated, with 4 villages with over 600 people in Thuong Trach commune temporarily isolated. Some landslide areas in Thuong Trach, Kim Ngan, and Tuyen Lam have been initially repaired by authorities.

In Tuyen Lam commune, initial records show that 2 households had their walls collapsed and their water tanks damaged by landslides.

Faced with the above situation, the Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard deployed 85 teams with 325 officers and soldiers to closely monitor the area; 49 teams with 180 officers and soldiers coordinated with local authorities to block off and propagate to people to ensure safety at flooded areas.

Up to now, 2 households with 7 people in Huong Lap commune have been evacuated from areas at high risk of landslides.

In Dakrong commune, the provincial Border Guard coordinated to survey 11 landslide-prone areas with 130 households - 759 people and 10 flood-prone areas with 173 households - 778 people; 13 cultural houses and 20 schools have been prepared as evacuation sites when necessary.

Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard also strictly maintained combat readiness, mobilizing 16 vehicles of various types, 4 canoes, along with 9 ships, 12 canoes, and 10 cars from participating units to respond.

Currently, the work of evacuating, supporting people and ensuring safety at sea and on land borders is still being vigorously implemented by the Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard.
