Occasionally the patient had mild headaches. When screening for stroke, the MRI results unexpectedly discovered a very large meningioma, more than 6cm in diameter, looking like an orange, compressing nearly 1/4 of the brain.

That is the case of Ms. TNK, a 45-year-old martial artist living in Ho Chi Minh City. Ms. K. occasionally suffered from mild headaches, so she decided to go for a stroke screening at FV Hospital. The MRI results unexpectedly discovered a very large meningioma, more than 6cm in diameter, looking like an orange, compressing nearly 1/4 of her brain.

The tumor grows over a long period of time, the skull adapts to the tumor, making it difficult to detect. The tumor has not affected higher neurological functions, although the patient occasionally has headaches. However, this case needs to be operated on early, because if the tumor grows larger, it can cause dangerous complications.

To minimize blood loss during surgery and preserve blood vessels, doctors performed an embolization procedure to block the tumor's blood supply one day before surgery.

The surgery was performed the following day under the guidance of the neuronavigation system (Navigation). This system helps to precisely determine the tumor boundaries, optimize the incision so that it is not too large or too small, thereby reducing the surgery time and related risks. Navigation also helps to identify and preserve the blood vessels adjacent to the tumor.

Through a long incision, the tumor was meticulously dissected and successfully removed from the patient's brain after 4 hours without causing damage to the surrounding brain tissue.

The patient recovered spectacularly just 2 hours after surgery.

4 days after surgery, the patient's health has reached 90% of normal, and his spirit is very good.
