Warning about impersonation scams about 'food safety training'

According to the Food Safety Management Board of Da Nang City, recently the unit has continuously received feedback and questions from many organizations and individuals about receiving invitations to paid training.

Accordingly, someone claiming to be an "officer of the Department of Food Safety and Environmental Hygiene" called businesses and food service establishments in Son Tra District, announcing the invitation for these establishments to participate in food safety training.

This person requires businesses to pay a fee to be granted a certificate, diploma, or certificate of eligibility to operate a business at the rate of 600,000 VND/establishment.

According to the feedback, the contact person knew very well the names and addresses of the businesses and announced that he would send an official dispatch, invitation letter with documents to the business households to inform them of the location to attend the training class, so many establishments trusted and agreed to pay the money.

Through verification, the Food Safety Management Board of Da Nang City confirmed that currently there is no state agency or public service unit called "Department of Food Safety - Environmental Hygiene Management".

The representative of the Department of Professional Affairs, Food Safety Management Board said that currently, according to the regulations of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the owners of food production and trading establishments will organize training courses on food safety knowledge and certify that food producers and traders have been trained on food safety knowledge.

The facility can organize food safety training courses in the following forms: self-training, training for employees, hiring experts or people with professional knowledge of food safety from universities, colleges... to train employees, inviting officers of the Food Safety Management Board to be reporters for training courses organized by the facility itself.

"State agencies do not regulate training fees, but training fees will depend on the needs and agreements between the two parties," explained a representative of the Professional Department, Food Safety Management Board.

The Da Nang City Food Safety Management Board added that to carry out other administrative procedures on food safety such as certificates of food safety qualified establishments, self-declaration of products, food production and trading establishments need to contact the one-stop department of the People's Committees of districts and the Da Nang City Administrative Center, or call the hotline of the Food Safety Management Board 0935.207.237 for detailed instructions, to avoid being scammed.
