Contribute human and material resources to the revolution
53 ethnic minorities in our country reside in mountainous and border areas, which play a particularly important role in the revolutionary cause of national liberation and national defense.

Throughout the history of the nation, the border areas of the Fatherland have been united by generations of ethnic minorities to protect and build into "fence" of the country in times of war as well as peace. Therefore, in the process of leading the Vietnamese revolution, our Party has always consistently held the view: The Vietnamese revolution is the cause of the entire nation, in which ethnic minorities are an inseparable part, an important force in the great national unity bloc.
And reality has proven that ethnic minorities have always been closely attached to the revolution and have made important contributions to the overall victory of the revolution through the periods. First of all, it must be mentioned that the success of the August Revolution had a great contribution in terms of human resources, resources as well as the preparation of revolutionary bases in all mountainous areas and ethnic minority areas.
In particular, when the Viet Bac base was formed, the homeland of many ethnic minorities such as Tay, Nung, Dao, Mong, San Diu, Lo Lo... became the cradle of the revolutionary armed forces and the capital of the revolution in the pre-uprising period. At the same time, the Bac Son guerrilla team was born - the first armed force of the Party whose core was the children of ethnic minorities in the northern provinces - and gradually developed into the National Salvation Army, one of the predecessors of the Vietnam People's Army. Among the first 34 soldiers of the National Salvation Army, there were 29 outstanding soldiers who were children of ethnic minorities.
During the 9 years of resistance against the French colonialists (1945-1954), the blood and efforts of ethnic minorities contributed to glorious victories in important campaigns. Many examples of ethnic minority children heroically sacrificed to protect their comrades and the achievements of the revolution. Names such as Vu A Dinh, La Van Cau, Be Van Dan, Dinh Nup... will forever be the pride of the Vietnamese people in general and the ethnic minority community in particular.
During the resistance war against the US to save the country, the Truong Son - Tay Nguyen forests... became a solid base of the revolution. Throughout the war years, the ethnic minorities here contributed human and material resources to support the revolution, contributing significantly to the victory of the Tay Nguyen campaign..., especially the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign, unifying the country.
Rise up with the country
Our Party and State have always been consistent in their viewpoint of "ensuring equality, solidarity, mutual support and mutual development among ethnic groups" and this has been institutionalized into a systematic policy system.

Accordingly, hundreds of policies for ethnic minority and mountainous areas have been issued, with an investment of thousands of billions of VND each year to put the policies into practice. In particular, from 2021, the Party and State have a national target program specifically for ethnic minority and mountainous areas to solve urgent and difficult problems in order to improve the material and spiritual life of ethnic minorities.
Currently, ethnic minorities are not only policy beneficiaries but are actually active and creative subjects with an increasingly important role in the political system, in socio-economic development, maintaining national security and defense, and preserving national cultural values.
With the support from policies, ethnic minorities have also promoted their internal strength, self-reliance and self-improvement to build a prosperous life, prosperous villages and hamlets. Notable among these is the promotion of traditional cultural potential to develop community tourism, eco-tourism, and experiential tourism; the formation of many diverse economic models; the transformation of local resources into OCOP products and many ethnic products have reached the world market...
Thanks to that, the poverty rate in ethnic minority and mountainous areas has decreased significantly. In the period of 2021-2024, the poverty reduction rate in ethnic minority areas will reach an average of 3.4%/year; the average income per capita of ethnic minority people by the end of 2024 will reach 43.4 million VND, 3.1 times higher than in 2020.
In the era of national development, promoting the role and strength of the community of 54 ethnic groups, including 53 ethnic minorities, is a strategic requirement, contributing to consolidating the great national unity bloc, enhancing national internal strength and realizing the goal of sustainable national development in the new period.
