Australian National University considers transcripts of students from all Vietnamese high schools

This is a new regulation in 2025 enrollment just announced by Australian National University, which will be applied for the February 2025 intake.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Andy Pham - senior manager of the Mekong region of the Australian National University - said that the new admission policy will expand the input for high school students beyond the list of 92 specialized schools and key schools that were announced in 2023.

Previously, students studying at schools outside of this list of 92 schools were not eligible to apply to the Australian National University.

However, the new admission regulations for each group will be different.

Students from 92 specialized and key schools will be selected based on their average grade point average for the entire 12th grade. This is the average score of all subjects, including compulsory and elective, that they study in 12th grade.

However, for some majors, the Australian National University requires students to take a prerequisite course in year 12. For example, if students want to study biotechnology, health technology, genetics, etc., candidates must take chemistry.

For the remaining schools that are teaching according to the program of the Ministry of Education and Training , in addition to the 12th grade transcript and the prerequisite subject regulations above, students must also submit SAT or ACT scores.

According to Mr. Andy Pham, requiring additional SAT or ACT scores for students outside the list of 92 specialized and key schools will help the Australian National University, although it expands admission to all schools, to strictly control input quality.

"The minimum SAT score is 1,170 for simple majors like Business or IT. But it will go up to SAT 1,390 - 1,430 for law majors or majors with honors degrees," said Mr. Andy Pham.

As for schools that do not teach the program of the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training but teach international programs such as IB, A-Level or Australian and Canadian High School Diploma programs, the Australian National University also provides detailed regulations for each case.
