Special features of the PTH130-K255B self-propelled gun with a range of 27 km made in Vietnam

Unlike other light self-propelled guns with 85 mm or 105 mm caliber, military experts have mounted the 130 mm M46 gun on the KrAZ-255B truck chassis, helping this weapon complex meet modern combat capabilities.

The PTH130-K255B self-propelled gun made in Vietnam is placed at the Ministry of National Defense 's outdoor exhibition area at the National Achievement Exhibition (Dong Anh commune, Hanoi) and is attracting the attention of the people. According to the guide at the exhibition area, the PTH130-K255B self-propelled gun was designed and manufactured by the Military Technical Academy.

This self-propelled artillery complex is a general department-level project, built by mounting the 130 mm M46 gun on the KrAZ-255B off-road truck chassis (a vehicle manufactured by the Soviet Union), helping to increase mobility and adapt to modern warfare.

Unlike the self-propelling of light artillery (for example, 85 mm or 105 mm caliber), this task is much more complicated for the M46 artillery, because this is a long-barreled artillery, large in size and weight, and has a large recoil when firing. Therefore, a suitable chassis such as the KrAZ-255B truck is needed.

According to published specifications, PTH130-K255B has a crew of 6 people, total weight 23.3 tons

PTH130-K255B has dimensions in marching position of 10,650 x 2,060 x 3,540 mm, dimensions in combat position of 11,755 x 3,200 x 7,450 mm

The cannon has a maximum firing range of over 27 km; firing rate of 5 - 8 rounds/minute; muzzle velocity of 930 m/second; direction angle range from minus 25 - 25 degrees; elevation angle range from 0 - 45 degrees. The time to switch from marching to combat and vice versa is under 4 minutes.

PTH130-K255B can fire high explosive fragmentation bullets, smoke bullets, and tracer bullets.

In addition, the range of the gun (left cover) can be improved with extended-range ammunition. The system has a ammunition storage compartment to ensure the ability to operate independently for a long time.

The KrAZ-255B truck chassis is equipped with a 240-horsepower YaMZ-238 turbocharged diesel engine and a 5-speed manual transmission, allowing the PTH130-K255B self-propelled artillery system to move at a speed of about 70 km/h, with a maximum slope of 29 degrees.
