Moscow takes control of more villages in eastern Ukraine

On February 22, TASS quoted the Russian Defense Ministry's announcement that it had taken control of the village of Novolyubivka in Luhansk province, which had largely fallen into Russian hands since the beginning of the war.

Russia's Defense Ministry said its armed units attacked Ukrainian military airports containing enemy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and fuel depots.

He criticized Ukrainian soldiers for wasting expensive weapons and refusing to apply NATO tactics.

Meanwhile, in Russia's Kursk, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that its forces had repelled three Ukrainian attacks in the Kursk region within 24 hours. According to TASS, the enemy's losses were 190 soldiers, three tanks, 15 armored fighting vehicles, 17 motor vehicles and other losses.

Ukraine has not commented on the above information.

Ukrainian soldiers vow to fight, with or without US support

After the US-Russia summit in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) on February 18, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov emphasized that Moscow strongly opposes the possibility of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) deploying forces to Ukraine after the war ends.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Starmer is said to be likely to propose sending 30,000 NATO troops to Ukraine and convince the US to join the peacekeeping force when he meets US President Donald Trump at the White House next week, according to The Telegraph .

According to Politico , Brussels is preparing a military aid package worth at least 6 billion euros for Kyiv, including 1.5 million artillery shells and air defense systems. This is one of the largest aid packages provided by the European Union (EU) to the Kyiv government since Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine in February 2022.

The information could be released ahead of a visit by senior EU representatives to Kyiv on February 24 to mark three years of fighting.

Europe pushes to support Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as peace talks near

Europe says peace is impossible without Ukraine's opinion

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said on February 22 that peace for Ukraine cannot be "imposed", following recent developments regarding the possibility of peace talks.

"Peace for Ukraine and security in Europe cannot be imposed," AFP quoted Prime Minister Sanchez, who is preparing to visit Kyiv on February 24 to mark three years of war.

The Spanish leader added that any "just and lasting peace" would require the participation of Ukraine and Europe.

Trump says talks with Russia are more effective than with Ukraine

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis told President Zelensky on the same day that no peace negotiation mechanism could resolve the conflict with Russia without Ukraine.

In a phone call with Mr. Zelensky, Mr. Mitsotakis said it was up to the Kyiv government to decide whether to accept peace talks or not.

For his part, US President Donald Trump on February 21 publicly criticized his counterpart Zelensky's negotiating style, but emphasized that Kyiv leader and Russian President Vladimir Putin must meet if they want everything to be settled properly.
