During the resistance war against the French, Tua Thang commune was a place to hide Viet Minh cadres and was the first revolutionary base of Tua Chua district. During that period, there were thousands of people who volunteered to become liaisons and guides for Viet Minh cadres in revolutionary activities. After the Dien Bien Phu victory, the lives of people in the Tua Thang revolutionary base area faced many difficulties, the infrastructure was devastated by the war. People had to go to the forest to dig cassava for food. Life was difficult, but the people still followed the Party wholeheartedly, absolutely believing in the Party's leadership.
Upholding the revolutionary tradition, Tua Thang people unite to compete in labor production, develop the economy , gradually stabilize their lives, and join hands to build their homeland. Up to now, the former revolutionary base has gradually shifted from self-sufficiency to commodity economy, many new economic sectors have been opened, contributing to promoting the strengths and potential of the locality. People's lives are basically stable, many households have become well-off; infrastructure has been invested in, rural roads have been concreted, and houses have been invested in and built spaciously.
Leading us around the commune on the concrete road that stretches to each hamlet, through the lush green rice fields and corn fields, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tua Thang Commune, Ca Van Phien, said: From the devastation and ruins after the war, the cadres and people of Tua Thang have promoted the revolutionary tradition, united in mind and joined hands to build their homeland firmly on the path of innovation. The Party Committee and the government of Tua Thang Commune have identified economic development as the central task and Party building as the key task. The Party Committee of the commune has issued many specialized resolutions on economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction; eliminating hamlets and hamlets without party members, party cells... Typical examples include: Resolution on each party member helping a poor household to develop the economy; resolution on developing specialized crop and livestock farming areas...
Based on thematic resolutions and actual conditions, Tua Thang commune is focusing on planning specialized areas, such as: Livestock grazing areas in Ta Huoi Trang 2 and Lang Vua villages; rice growing areas in Huoi Trang, Ta Si Lang 1 and Ta Si Lang 2 villages; aquaculture and fishing areas in Huoi Trang village... Thereby, the potential and strengths of each area have been exploited and promoted. Typically, in Huoi Trang village, people's lives have been increasingly improved thanks to the advantage of being close to the river to develop 42 households raising fish in cages with 170 fish cages on the surface of the Da River; the average yield is 30 - 35 tons/year. Many households earn a profit of about 40 - 50 million VND/year from the cage fish farming model.
In livestock development, the number of cattle and poultry increases year by year. Up to now, the total herd of cattle is nearly 7,700 and the herd of poultry is over 34,400. Many livestock models and farms have been established and brought high economic efficiency, such as: The cattle farm of Mr. Quang Van Thoi, Ta Huoi Trang 2 village. Previously, Mr. Thoi's family was a poor household in the village. In 2018, Mr. Thoi borrowed capital from the bank to invest in building barns, buying buffalo and cow breeds to raise. Up to now, Mr. Thoi's family has always maintained over 20 buffalo and cows; has a stable source of income, escaped poverty and become a good production and business household in Tua Thang commune.
The war has long gone, each passing year the Party Committee, the government and the people of the revolutionary base of Tua Thang have once again added to the glorious history of their homeland with many achievements in various fields. The economic indicators of each year are higher than the previous year. Currently, the area of grain crops in the commune is 745 hectares, the output is 2,481 tons; the average food is 422 kg/person/year. In the construction of new rural areas, the whole commune has achieved 12/19 criteria; the poverty rate has decreased to 31.4%; rural traffic has been basically built, and cars are convenient to travel. People's lives have clearly improved from material to spiritual. The change in the revolutionary countryside of Tua Thang today is thanks to the solidarity and unity of the entire Party Committee, government and people in economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction. That is the foundation for Tua Thang to continue writing the proud history of his homeland in the period of renovation.
