Mild earthquake in Phu Tho, shaking in Hanoi

Many people in Hanoi said that the strong shaking occurred for a split second. However, the seismological monitoring agency said the epicenter was in Phu Tho province.

The Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center said that at 5:46 p.m. and 42 seconds on August 26, 2025, an earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale occurred in Cao Duong commune, Phu Tho province, at a depth of about 16km.

This earthquake is assessed at a natural disaster risk level of 0, not dangerous. Currently, authorities continue to monitor developments.

At the time of the earthquake, many people in the Hanoi area said they clearly felt strong shaking for a few short seconds, some even heard a shaking sound like an elevator or loud noises coming from buildings and objects.

On the contrary, many people claimed that they did not feel any shaking and only learned about the incident after receiving information from the authorities.
