According to information from many gardeners and traders, on the afternoon of July 6, domestic pepper prices were traded in the common range of 139,000-144,000 VND/kg depending on the location.

Specifically, in Gia Lai, Dak Lak , Lam Dong provinces, pepper prices are at 141,000-144,000 VND/kg depending on the type and location. Meanwhile, in Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City, pepper prices today are traded around 139,000-143,000 VND/kg.

According to many businesses, this price is relatively stable compared to the previous two days, and increased by about 15,000-20,000 VND/kg compared to the low of late May and the first half of June. However, compared to the previous peak of more than 200,000 VND/kg, the current price is still much lower.

Meanwhile, according to information from export enterprises and the International Pepper Association, world pepper prices have been recorded to have many mixed developments, with strong differentiation between major exporting countries such as Vietnam, Brazil, Indonesia...

In Vietnam and Brazil, pepper export prices are still on a downward trend. Accordingly, Vietnamese black pepper 500-550g/l has decreased to 5,700-5,800 USD/ton, white pepper fluctuates around 8,700 USD/ton.

Brazil also recorded a similar decline with ASTA 570 black pepper falling to $5,750/ton. In contrast, the Malaysian market kept prices stable throughout the week, with black pepper at $9,000/ton and white pepper remaining at $11,750/ton.

Notably, Indonesia continued its upward trend, with black pepper surpassing the 7,600 USD/ton mark and white pepper maintaining its upward momentum, reaching over 10,200 USD/ton.

According to many experts, pepper prices are fluctuating in different countries mainly due to supply and demand factors and speculation. But basically, the difference is a matter of time.

"Vietnam accounts for approximately 50% of the global supply, so the crop situation in Vietnam this coming season and the amount of speculation from large buyers will have a significant impact on pepper price movements. However, in terms of the general trend, pepper prices are likely to be at a good level because the world's supply is still lacking demand," an expert commented.

According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association, in June 2025, Vietnam imported 6,089 tons of pepper of all kinds, with a turnover of 37.9 million USD, black pepper reached 5,629 tons, and white pepper reached 460 tons.

Compared to the previous month, import volume decreased by 10.9%, turnover decreased by 13.6%. Vietnam imported pepper mainly from Brazil: 3,463 tons and Cambodia: 1,777 tons. Both exports and imports in June 2025 decreased in the context of a slow market. Exports to the US continued to decrease while China increased by nearly 30%.
