The 11th National Award for External Information: Innovation for stronger dissemination

The 11th National Foreign Information Awards has many notable adjustments: shortening the categories to 8, deploying a software system to receive and judge awards, and expanding participation opportunities for authors working on digital platforms. These changes aim to improve the quality of the awards and increase the spread of Vietnam's image to the world.

On June 12 in Hanoi , the Central Steering Committee for External Information Work, the Central Propaganda and Education Commission and Vietnam Television held the launching ceremony of the 11th National External Information Award (Award).

Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission, Head of the Steering Committee for External Information Work, and leaders of central departments, ministries and branches attended and performed the launching ceremony of the Award.

Applying technology in receiving and scoring

According to information at the launching ceremony, the Award continues to honor and encourage authors and groups of authors with excellent works/products in the field of foreign information. At the same time, it motivates collectives and individuals to actively participate in innovation and improve the quality of foreign information and propaganda work; strengthen the connection between agencies, units and localities, and maximize the proactiveness and positivity of the forces. Thereby, promoting the combined strength of the entire political system, the active participation of the people, Vietnamese compatriots abroad and international friends.

The Organizing Committee said that this year, the Awards were adjusted from 10 to 8 categories to improve the quality and value of the awards. The categories include: Vietnamese newspapers/magazines; foreign newspapers/magazines; radio; television; books; photos; digital and multimedia products; initiatives and products with foreign information value.

Notably, the Video clip category has been expanded to Digital - Multimedia Products to encourage new forms of expression, technology applications, especially the participation of authors operating on social networking platforms, not necessarily professional journalists.

The entire process of receiving, classifying and judging this year will be deployed on the software system at: https://duthi.ttdn.vn to facilitate authors to submit their entries, while ensuring publicity and transparency in the judging process.

Information to be submitted on the online system includes: work title; work introduction (no more than 500 words); name of author/author group; language of expression; type (Vietnamese newspaper - magazine, foreign language newspaper - magazine; radio; television; books; digital - multimedia products; initiatives, products with foreign information value); representative photo (photo of work); download soft file of work (mp4, mp3, pdf) or link to post work.

For the Book category, if there is a soft copy, submit online on the contest system. If there is no soft copy, the author sends the cover photo and fills in information about the work on the contest system, prints the label provided by the system and sends it with the book (hard copy) to the Award Council at the address: Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department (Information - Foreign Affairs Department), No. 6C Hoang Dieu, Ba Dinh, Hanoi.

The works/products, activities and events considered for the Award during the year are works/products posted, published, released, announced on mass media, or activities and events organized domestically and internationally, in the period from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025.

For works/products released before or after the above time, 2/3 of the duration and quantity of works/products must be published within the prescribed time.

The deadline for submissions is August 5, 2025.

Awards accompany the country's major milestones

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Pham Tat Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, said: 2025 is a special year for Vietnam. This is a year of important historical milestones, marking the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification; the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh; the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the final year to successfully complete the goals and tasks of the Resolution of the 13th National Congress, towards the 14th National Party Congress.

2025 is also the year that our Party will make turning-point decisions when the Politburo issued Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW, dated January 24, 2025, on international integration in the new situation, while at the same time carrying out comprehensive institutional reforms, streamlining and streamlining the apparatus in the entire political system to create a solid foundation for the country to enter a new era.

2025 is also the second year to promote the implementation of Conclusion No. 57-KL/TW, dated June 15, 2023, on continuing to improve the quality and effectiveness of foreign information work in the new situation. In this Conclusion, the Politburo clearly stated the goals and guiding viewpoints of foreign information work in the next phase as "contributing to enhancing the international position and prestige of Vietnam and the Communist Party of Vietnam"; "successfully implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the country's development goals until 2045".

"The Award Council hopes that the 11th Foreign Information Award will be an information channel to convey the message of national development to international friends; continue to be an achievement in effectively implementing Conclusion No. 57-KL/TW of the Politburo in practice, attracting strong public attention and having a wide spread at home and abroad. Especially with the greater participation of young people, KOLs (people with influence on social networks). This is one of the key activities in the 2025 plan of the Steering Committee for Foreign Information Work", said Mr. Pham Tat Thang.

Mr. Do Duc Hoang, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Television, said: Immediately after the launching ceremony, Vietnam Television will direct relevant units to produce promotional trailers, introduce how to participate in the Award and will arrange to broadcast with high frequency on channels and digital platforms. Thereby, helping the Award to spread more and more widely in society, contributing to enhancing the position of foreign information work in the current context.
