Not only is this a legal recognition, it is also a push for non-public schools to invest systematically and professionalize their staff.

Big step forward

According to the provisions of the Law on Teachers, for the first time in the Vietnamese educational legal system, the concept of teachers is established uniformly, without distinction between public and private schools. All teachers, regardless of the type of school they teach in, must be trained, practiced and operate within a common professional standards framework.

This is considered by managers and teachers as a big step forward, contributing to creating occupational equity, improving the quality of education and promoting even development among schools.

Ms. Phung Thi Loan - Executive Director of High School,FPT School Da Nang, said that the new regulation affirms the position of private teachers in the national education system, and resonates with the philosophy of "people are the most important resource" that FPT Schools always pursues. "Legalizing professional standards and unifying the system reinforces our belief that the quality of education must be guaranteed to be fair and sustainable, regardless of the public or private model," Ms. Loan shared.

The new law demonstrates respect and fair recognition for the non-public teaching staff - who are increasingly contributing to the national education. Expressing his opinion, Mr. Tong Thien Long - Principal of Sky-Line Danang Primary, Secondary and High School (Education System

Sky-Line) and evaluate: When professional standards are unified, each teacher has the opportunity to affirm their capacity, contribute and be evaluated transparently. This is the motivation for non-public schools to boldly invest in a sustainable career development roadmap, from recruitment to treatment.

In Dak Lak province - where the private school system is strongly developed, the Law on Teachers is welcomed with a proactive and enthusiastic spirit. Mr. Nguyen Phu - Vice Principal of Dong Du Secondary and High School (Tan An, Dak Lak) commented: "The new law is not only a recognition of the position of private teachers, but also a motivation for schools to continue to invest heavily and develop their staff, in line with the modern educational orientation".

Proactive change

Instead of worrying about the new requirements, many private schools in the Central Highlands consider this an opportunity to standardize and comprehensively professionalize their teaching staff.

At Dong Du Secondary and High School, the review of teacher professional standards according to new regulations is being seriously implemented. The school develops a professional development plan suitable for each subject, encourages teachers to study and apply new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), digital transformation, and STEM education in teaching. Professional activities are also organized in an innovative way, associated with the development of students' qualities and abilities.

At Sky-Line, the standardization plan is implemented systematically and in depth. The school builds a personal career development roadmap for each teacher, connects with professional training units, and applies core competency groups including: Deep expertise, ethics - behavior, personalized program design, cooperation - career development skills, integration capacity and technology. Flexible training methods (offline, online, 1:1 mentoring), combined with assessment and testing, help teachers learn anytime, anywhere.

For FPT School Da Nang High School, the foundation of learning culture is considered the core, each teacher must complete at least 35 hours of self-study/year via the Coursera platform. The school also organizes intensive training sessions, divided into groups; combines exchanges, inter-school training and experiential projects to develop practical capacity.

Similarly, Victory Primary, Secondary and High School (Buon Ma Thuot, Dak Lak) is promoting the development of a personalized training system. According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Phat - Vice Principal, the unit actively cooperates with prestigious training centers and education experts to organize seminars on innovative methods and technology integration in teaching according to the requirements of the 2018 General Education Program. The culture of lifelong learning is maintained by encouraging teachers to share and spread the spirit of learning throughout the school.

Unifying professional standards for public and private teachers, according to administrators, poses both pressure and opportunity. For private schools, this requires systematic investment in human resources, instead of relying solely on flexibility as before.

Faced with the new requirements, Ms. Phung Thi Loan acknowledged: “Without reasonable remuneration and a positive organizational culture, private schools will find it difficult to retain good teachers. Therefore, investing in learning ecosystems, field training, professional community development and comprehensive welfare is a vital factor.”

Mr. Tong Thien Long also said that there is no longer a “safe zone” meaning that private schools must meet comprehensive standards from expertise, ethics to professional skills. “Sky-Line considers professional standards not only as a goal, but also as a foundation for long-term team development. We aim to build a team that leads innovation with real capacity and love for the profession,” Mr. Long emphasized.

According to Mr. Luu Tien Quang - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak, the locality has more than 100 non-public schools. The Law on Teachers not only affirms the equal role of public and private teachers in the national education system, but also opens a new direction for private schools in the process of sustainable development of the team. When teachers are recognized, invested and developed properly, it means that the quality of education is improved substantially and in the long term.
