Long Thanh airport passenger terminal to be completed in August 2026

On August 29, Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV, the investor of the Long Thanh Airport Phase 1 component project 3) said that after one year of construction, the passenger terminal project is ensuring the set progress.

Specifically, package No. 5.10 (construction and installation of passenger terminal equipment) is worth 35,000 billion VND, starting on August 31, 2023.

Up to now, the passenger terminal has completed all reinforced concrete columns and beams on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors. Construction of reinforced concrete beams on the 4th floor has also reached 100% of the area.

On August 22, contractors installed steel structures of wings 2 and 3 according to the contract plan and schedule.

In parallel with the construction progress of the rough part, all the procurement and ordering of ME equipment, station equipment, HBS system, and facade glass walls have been implemented, signed contracts with suppliers and manufacturers, and are in the process of manufacturing and processing components according to the set schedule.

According to the schedule, the entire construction will be completed before December 2025, and the facade installation will be completed before March 2026. At the same time, the work of completing and installing equipment for trial operation will begin in early 2026 and all items will be completed before August 31, 2026.

After one year of construction, the passenger terminal project has completed all reinforced concrete columns and beams on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors, and the construction of reinforced concrete beams on the 4th floor has also reached 100% of the area.

In mid-August, contractors began construction and installation of the passenger terminal roof steel frame worth VND3,500 billion (accounting for 10% of the passenger terminal contract value), expected to be completed by the end of 2024.

At the Long Thanh airport construction site, there are currently more than 6,000 engineers, workers and 2,200 pieces of equipment synchronously implementing 3 construction packages.

Currently, the bidding packages invested by ACV are ensuring progress, including some items that are 10-20 days ahead of schedule.

Package No. 4.6 (construction, equipment installation and design of construction drawings for runways, taxiways, aircraft parking lots and other works) meets the set schedule. For the runway item alone: ​​the foundation structure layers and M150/15 cement concrete layer have been constructed over 90%, and the mass construction of the M350/45 cement concrete surface layer is currently underway, reaching 17.1%.

As planned, package No. 6.12 (construction and design of construction drawings for the traffic system connecting T1 and T2) will complete the project, hand it over and put it into use, and be completed in December 2025.

September to start construction of 3 more packages at Long Thanh airport

According to ACV, bidding packages 4.7, 4.8 and 4.9 are being evaluated for bidding documents in accordance with the provisions of the law on bidding and under close supervision of state management agencies.

Specifically, package 4.7 - construction and installation of equipment for aircraft parking lots, passenger terminals and other works; package 4.8 - construction and installation of equipment, design of construction drawings for internal port traffic works and airport technical infrastructure; package 4.9 - construction and installation of equipment for aircraft fuel supply systems.

It is expected that in September 2024, the contractor selection and construction of the packages will be completed, and construction is expected to be completed before August 31, 2026.
