In previous school years, students in Ho Chi Minh City had a long Tet holiday of 14-16 days, including the two weekends before and after Tet holiday. Thus, 2025 is the year that students in Ho Chi Minh City will have the shortest Tet holiday.

The 2025 Lunar New Year holiday schedule for students in Ho Chi Minh City also coincides with the proposal of a 9-day Tet holiday proposed by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to the Prime Minister. This plan proposes that the Tet holiday will last from December 26 of the year of Giap Thin to January 5 of the year of At Ty (ie January 25 - February 2).

In a previous document sent to the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Training also agreed to the plan for students, staff and teachers to have 9 days off for the 2025 Lunar New Year (including 5 days off for Lunar New Year and 4 days off for the weekend).

This plan was agreed by 13/16 agencies and ministries, the rest did not comment.
