Northern region has thunderstorms to cool down

On the evening of June 19, showers and thunderstorms appeared in many provinces and cities in the North. In Hanoi , rain poured down at 7:30 p.m. accompanied by thunderstorms, gusts of wind and thunder, concentrated in districts such as Tay Ho, Dong Anh, and Soc Son. The rain helped cool the area after a day of hot weather.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said thunderstorms may continue through tonight in the North.

On June 20, the region entered the peak of the heat wave when many places recorded the highest temperature of 36-39 degrees Celsius, some places over 39 degrees Celsius. The severe heat was still concentrated in the Northern Delta and Hoa Binh province, and began to spread to the mountainous and midland provinces.

Notably, thunderstorms in the evening and at night will continue for many days in the North. Rain appears after the hot and sunny period during the day, causing thunderstorms. People should seek shelter when thunderstorms appear with strong winds and thunder.

In the Central region, severe heat is also forecast to continue for many days to come with the highest temperature of 36-39 degrees Celsius.

Forecasts for the highest temperatures in some localities show that the heat in the North and Central regions is likely to decrease from June 23 (Chart: Man Nhi).

The lowest temperature is 28-31 degrees Celsius; the highest is 36-39 degrees Celsius, with some places being over 39 degrees Celsius.

- From Da Nang to Binh Thuan: Showers and thunderstorms at night in some places; hot and sunny during the day, some places are extremely hot. Lowest temperature 26-29 degrees Celsius; highest 35-38 degrees Celsius, some places above 39 degrees Celsius.
