The first year of the fat hill of Bac Kan Forestry One Member Co., Ltd. developed well.

The first year of plantation forests of Bac Kan Forestry One Member Co., Ltd. developed well.

Before the merger, Bac Kan province (old) planned to plant 3,500 hectares of planted forests with the main tree structure being acacia, fat, cinnamon, anise, pine, mahogany...; Thai Nguyen province was 3,500 hectares with the main tree species being acacia (accounting for 60-70%), the rest being fat, cinnamon and some other crops.

After the merger, the area of new forest plantations in this area is assessed to have much room for expansion. Thanks to propaganda and mobilization of businesses and individuals to closely follow the season, by the end of June, Thai Nguyen province had completed more than 80% of the new forest plantation plan, and this rate is expected to continue to increase due to the favorable weather conditions in recent times for planting and caring for forest trees.

This year, Bac Kan Forestry One Member Co., Ltd. plans to plant 562 hectares of concentrated forests. Up to this point, the unit has completed 150 hectares. The main tree species are still familiar species such as acacia and fat, suitable for the climate, soil and consumption market conditions. The remaining area is being urgently treated with vegetation, dug holes and continued planting in suitable weather conditions.

Mr. Vu Dinh Vinh, Head of the Company's Forest Management and Protection Technical Department, said: The entire forest area planted this year was contracted by the Company with 3 enterprises, including: Ba Be Agriculture and Tourism Joint Stock Company; Bac Kan Forest Products Investment and Processing Joint Stock Company and Vina Wood Forestry Company Limited.

The units are committed to ensuring the quality of seeds, technical processes and output products. During the implementation process, the Company regularly checks and monitors the quality of crops, and so far, all areas are growing well. Enterprises promptly supplement and replace dead trees due to weather effects, especially the recent prolonged heat waves, Mr. Vinh said.

Signing a joint venture contract between a State enterprise and a private enterprise will bring long-term benefits, helping to increase the responsibility of the parties in the process of planting, caring for and exploiting forests. At the same time, this model is aiming to create a concentrated, high-quality raw material area, eligible for sustainable forest certification (FSC), thereby increasing the value in production, processing and export.

Mr. Vu Dinh Vinh further emphasized: To effectively plant forests, the first thing is to control the quality of seedlings well. Seedlings must have a clear origin and meet standards. Planting must be done at the right time. Acacia and tallow trees should be planted from January to June; trees such as cinnamon, anise, and pine can be planted until August. In addition, it is necessary to strictly follow the technical process from the stage of treating the ground cover, digging holes at the right distance, to care, fertilizing, and pest control.

In fact, the afforestation work in the area has also encountered many difficulties. This year, according to people's feedback, the hot and dry weather that lasted in March and April was the reason why many areas of crops withered, especially those on high hills, which depend largely on rainwater.

Many households have to buy seedlings to replant many times. Another difficulty is that this year the source of trees is quite scarce, the price is quite high compared to previous years, many households have to go to other provinces to buy seedlings to plant more.

Mr. Vu Ngoc Tu, Sau Hai village, Thanh Thinh commune, replanted acacia trees for the second time because many trees had previously withered due to drought.

Mr. Vu Ngoc Tu, Sau Hai village, Thanh Thinh commune, replanted acacia trees for the second time because many of them had died before.

Mr. Vu Ngoc Tu in Sau Hai village, Thanh Thinh commune, said: I planted about 1 hectare of acacia, but due to the dry weather, many trees died, my hill lost up to 60% of the seedlings, equivalent to 600 trees, now I have to replant for the second time. Moreover, the price of seedlings this season is twice as expensive as last year. Not only me but many forest growers are also in the same situation.

In the context of increasingly erratic weather, afforestation requires careful calculation and flexible adaptation to climate conditions. Proactively grasping weather forecast information, choosing the right time to plant, prioritizing cool, rainy days, etc. have become important principles, contributing to minimizing risks and improving the efficiency of investment in afforestation.

Along with that, the role of the functional sector in checking the quality of seedlings and stabilizing market prices is also extremely necessary, helping people feel secure in production and stick with the forestry profession for a long time.
