Improving legal aid capacity for village elders, village chiefs, and prestigious people

(Chinhphu.vn) - Implementing the 2025 Work Plan, recently, the Department of Legal Dissemination, Education and Legal Aid (Ministry of Justice) organized 2 training conferences to improve capacity and knowledge of legal aid for village elders, village chiefs, prestigious people in the community and grassroots officials in Lam Dong province.

This is a practical and regular activity for those who play the role of "bridge", aiming to bring free legal aid services closer to the people, ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of the people, especially the poor, people with revolutionary contributions, children and vulnerable groups in society.

In Lang Biang, Lam Vien, Xuan Truong wards and Dinh Van and Nam Ha communes, reporter Ha Thi Diep, Deputy Director of the State Legal Aid Center of Lam Dong province and lawyer Nguyen Ngoc Lan, Ngoc Lan and Associates Law Firm, who is also a lecturer at Dai Nam University, introduced the basic contents of the Law on Legal Aid such as: People receiving legal aid, organizations implementing legal aid, forms, fields, scope of legal aid implementation, ways to send requests for legal aid, rights and obligations of people receiving legal aid....

Delegates attending the Conference enthusiastically discussed and shared difficulties and problems in local practices, including the fact that a part of the population still has limited legal knowledge, leading to difficulty in accessing legal aid services.

Many opinions said that organizing these in-depth training sessions would help village elders, village chiefs, prestigious people in the community and grassroots officials to grasp the provisions of the law on legal aid, thereby proactively propagating and supporting people right from the community. The conference also received exchanges, sharing and comments from delegates on the provisions of the law on legal aid.

Some opinions suggested that the Department of Dissemination, Legal Education and Legal Aid, the Reporter should answer many in-depth legal questions in areas such as: Land law, inheritance and policies for people with meritorious services, veterans, etc. as well as organize more training conferences to improve the knowledge of village elders, village chiefs, prestigious people in the community and grassroots cadres.

Through training conferences, the capacity of village elders, village chiefs, prestigious people in the community and grassroots officials has been improved not only in legal knowledge but also in guidance and explanation skills so that people can understand and use legal aid services in accordance with regulations.
